Aloha, Sorry to hear about your Mom. Losing a Mom is a hard thing, as she nurtured us her whole life. Perhaps now she is in a better place! My thoughts are with you! And yes, smoking isn't going to improve any event what so ever, if we have learned anything in our year, we have learned that! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 359 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,975 Amount Saved: $3,787.45 Life Gained: Days: 47 Hrs: 2 Mins: 56 Seconds: 9

Aloha, I am so Sorry about the loss of your mom. Its great that you are so sure you are a non smoker, I admire this immensely you know exactly where you stand on this. Like JDJ I find it very though at the moment and unfortunately for me it will always be the case that I am an addict and I will always have to remember that I am an addict and what that addiction has done to me so I never light another cigarette, I have to keep this in my head all the time, I feel this is how it will be for me at least for the foreseeable future I think this is the only way I will succeed. Take care of yourself My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/2/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 56 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,680 Amount Saved: 613.20 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 17 Mins: 55 Seconds: 59

Hi Aloha, so sorry to hear about your mum. You are so much of a non smoker that I predict you will never lift another cigarette to your lips for as long as you live. Thats great for you and your health. I believe it is not necessarily true that if you want to be a non smoker for life that you will be though. You also have that missing x ingredient. Probably a mixture of courage, conviction and determination. Add to that good preparation, support, health, luck, self-esteem and good personal image. That to me is the reason why some make it, some try and don't make it, and some don't even try at all. I know of at least one person who really wants to quit but always backs out at the last minute citing parents that smoke, or work pressures etc. They tell me I have made it but I tell them that I haven't as I still think about smoking nearly all of the day. That it is a constant battle and the moment I lose that battle I am back to smoking. I obviously cannot speak for anyone else so I shall not try. Hopefully, you won't consider this a thread invasion. I am just running thoughts through my mind again (and often they should stay there). So what I really came to say was, congrats on staying smokefree. Hope you keep around here as you are an inspiration to many. And look..is that 365 special number coming up soon for you? Time really does fly. I'm sorry for your loss, Aloha. My deepest sympathies. Once again, you've helped me out, here. I'm going through a rough patch at work, and it's getting me down. But what you told me last time, and what you've just posted here are helping to drive the idea that smoking doesn't help with ANYTHING through my thick skull. ok, so we think..what would be the one thing that "makes" us smoke..a hard day at work, an argument with a loved one, a financial loss, a personal loss, just a really bad day. But the truth is, if we truly want to be nonsmokers, we will be that, no matter what happens. So, today, I choose to be a nonsmoker. My mom passed away, and yes, it sucks so big time, but you know what? I never once, not at all, thought about smoking to ease the pain. You know why? Because it wouldn't work, and besides..I'm a nonsmoker, so I don't do that any more. Thank you all my friends here for knowing that too. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 342 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,680 Amount Saved: $2,325.60 Life Gained: Days: 48 Hrs: 5 Mins: 46 Seconds: 42
