I can't handle this

Hey Paula I want you to try to change all those "can't" "haven't" "don't" and "not's" around. For me, i had the hardest time in the beginning until someone pointed out how i always dwell on the negative. It was so true. No more dwelling. You will get the job if it is meant to be, chances are you will get have a better chance if you dont smell like smoke and don't have "butt breath". So, don't dwell on the "not being able to smoke" turn the negatives into positives and know you CAN and WILL do this. When I was going to the interview for the job I have now, I was still smoking but didn't want to stink so I went without a cigarette for a good few hours beforehand. I was nervous as usual but the twenty minutes before I was due to go in (it was an internal posting at the company I was already with) I took a walk around the block. You know what? That lack of a cigarette meant my pulse stayed steady, my energy was solid and not just jacked up and I was more relaxed during that interview than during any other in my LIFE. Not only because I didn't HAVE the smoke but I didn't reek like an ashtray and desperately try to cover it up with gum and perfume. Nervous for an interview = excuse It's so hard = excuse ICL you picked up a butt off the lawn the other day. That's just nasty. That's like smoking an old sock, just to appease your inner addict. Don't do it! Go get that job! x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 414 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,522 Amount Saved: 2,277.00 Life Gained: Days: 35 Hrs: 6 Mins: 49 Seconds: 54

Wish I could take your struggle for a little while so you can find some peace, but it is all of the process. If you give in, you will feel 10 times worse than you do now. Get that water and start drinking it, take deep breaths, tell yourself you are worth it. Now look at you, you can go for a job interview and not smell like an ashtray. Believe me if you smell, it could ruin your chances of getting the job, think about it. ICL - I feel for you - you're in the eye of the storm right now. No matter what we all say, the bottom line is that you're fighting an incredibly hard battle right now - it's so so so hard. But, you CAN and ARE doing it! I think you'll be surprised to discover that you actually can study so much better without the distraction of smokes! And, you won't be all smokey stinky at your interview. Remember - smoking is not an option! Make the choice to ace the interview. Cigarette or no cigarette! You can do it, I have faith in you ICL. I'm on day 3 today. Stick with me and hang in there. I stayed in bed for 12 hours. Then I got a phone call for an interview on Thursday and now I can't get cigs out of my head. I knew an interview would be a trigger, without my confidence boost from a cig that I'll feck it up and won't get the job. I just can't seem to lift my spirits, I know when I'm in bad form that the cravings are stronger. I need to srudy for the interview as well, they'll be giving me scenarios and I'll have to give them hr or legal advice so I need to brush up, I haven't studied without a cig in my gob. I'm not a happy bunny today. Hello ICL...You are doing so well (even if it doesn't feel like it) I don't think that you will have to go through the 5 days all over again...Some of us used NRT's so we actually had some nicotine in our system during the first weeks of our quits (despite that...hell week was still hell) I just spent a day with friends from the gym. Two years ago, they wouldn't have been my friends because I rarely went to the gym and I probably wouldn't have gone because I would have been spending the day trying to figure out when and where I could smoke. We had an awesome day and I didn't have to think about smoking AT ALL because I am not a smoker. Nicotine addiciton is awful and quitting is awful BUT once you are a non-smoker you will not have to spend every waking moment wondering when you are going to get your next cigarette. 5 days down...keep strong. Marie always used to tell me "One day at a time" Windy My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 525 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,500 Amount Saved: $2,625.00 Life Gained: Days: 51 Hrs: 3 Mins: 56 Seconds: 38
