Who are the Febuary 07 Quitters?

17 years ago 0 1155 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
How are you all doing? I'm on day four...yesterday was HORRIBLE!!! I had to leave work early. But, I'm hoping today is a bit better. One thing that is helping me...I think of all of the withdrawal symptoms I'm experiencing: extreme fatigue, distraction/can't concentrate, messed-up sleep, shakiness, anxiety, constipation, etc. Then I think: How scary is it that stopping smoking is causing my body to go through all of this...how much the smoking interfered with healthy body functioning such that all this withdrawal stuff happens as our bodys "clean out". It's scary. This thought has been motivation to me. Tutti - You have to hang in there too! I'm impressed with your 9 days - looking forward to my quit meter saying I've reached 9 days! I agree with being tired of thinking & constantly fighting the cravings - it's exhausting! I can get small moments of relief through distraction - but overall I'd say the cravings are taking up 90% of my thoughts. I baked some cookies from scratch last night...following the recipe was a good distraction. Of course I had to bring all of the cookies to work today to give away - otherwise I'd eat them all! My hunger has become insatiable since my quit, that coupled with the constipation is not a good thing! I think the amount of food I'm intaking (fruits, veggies, fiber, etc) and the lack of elimination is a medical miracle! lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 88 Amount Saved: $19.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 6 Seconds: 25

Thanks for the support Tutti! I am drinking lots of water and constantly chewing gum and/or munching on a carrot or other snack. I'm constantly battling my addictive thoughts. This is so unbelievably hard. But, it's a fight for the best cause - my life! Tutti - Oh how I can relate! If you haven't already, read my post called "I'm having a bad day" (or something like that). Think I put it in the withdrawal forum. Anyway - my experience has been very very much like yours. I was feeling better & thinking about smoking less & less, then all of a sudden I feel like I've done a total backslide! I couldn't get out of bed this morning and I ended up leaving work early. I feel so tired and drained and sad - like I could burst out crying any second. At the same time, there's this underlying sense of feeling irritable. The thing is, despite all of this, I know that I'm not going to smoke -- just isn't an option at this point. Maybe you're right and we're just really advanced - hitting the infamous 30-day slump early! And, when we actually hit 30 days we'll feel great! Hi all you February quitters! I quit in Feb. as well, can I join your group? I'm a Valentine's quitter only because that is the date that I ran out of cigs and thus it became my quit date. (Nov. 2002 Hall of Fame quitter :) ) Anyway... it's not easy to quit... no matter when you do it... I had to suffer through my father's death and the majority of my family smoking like chimneys... the key is to tell yourself NO!! If you don't give in, no matter how desperate you feel, you will be the victor over your addiction! There is no way I ever want to go through HELL week again so I know I'll never smoke again! My mantra: I'd rather be an ex-smoker occasionally thinking of smoking than a smoker constantly thinking of quitting!! Leslie ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/14/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1849 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 73,995 Amount Saved: $6471.5 Life Gained: Days: 179 Hrs: 23 Mins: 44 Seconds: 31
