I am volunteering at my son's kindergarten class this week and we are making stone soup. Not having gone to kindergarten myself, I had to google it find out exactly what I volunteered for.
For those who don't know the story...some travelers come to a village, carrying nothing more than an empty pot. Upon their arrival, the villagers are unwilling to share any of their food stores with the hungry travelers. The travelers fill the pot with water, drop large stone in it, and place it over a fire in the village square. One of the villagers becomes curious and asks what they are doing. The travelers answer that they are making "stone soup", which tastes wonderful, although it still needs a little bit of garnish to improve the flavor, which they are missing. The villager doesn't mind parting with just a little bit to help them out, so it gets added to the soup. A number of villagers decide to help out, until finally, a delicious nourishing pot of soup is enjoyed by all.
So I got to thinking that this is kind of what the SSC is all about. We all add our little bit here and there, and what we get is this huge pot of knowledge and support.
So I thought we could make our very own SSC Stone Soup. I've put in the water and the stone and I would like to add a big helping of COURAGE, because that is what you need to get started.
What can you add?
