Hey, Den you knew this wasn't going to be a cake walk, but you are doing it. Are you going to let cigarettes control your life? You are stronger than that or didn't you know that. Drink water, scream at the moon, walk, one step at a time. You can do this!! Go to bed and pull the covers over your head. Now give yourself a pat on the pack and tell yourself you are so worth this quit. Gotta tough it out Den, one more day and the nicotine is gone from your body, then the battle is mental, remember what I said below - this is war. Put up your dukes and fight this junkie ***** - you can do it. Den, listen I can't remember the last time I had a crave. The craves will stop as long you stop smoking. Don't give in. Not even one puff. okay? keep reading. Got a hammer? Do anything, don't smoke. emotions are running rampid right now!!!! ARGH!!!!! Ten minutes ago i felt like screaming out in anger until the windows broke then next thing I knew i was crying. Then i was mad and then crying yet again. Didn't sleep well at all last night. For the last 2 hours still questioning "why, why, why" am i doing this!!! Can't think straight so my attitude sucks right now and that "smoker" inside me who hasn't quite died yet has a huge amount to say. i say "just shut the hell up and leave me alone!!" Don't want to smoke but i do. Does that even make sense. Like i said, the battle in my head is now the worst part. Thanks for your support Sparky, it's nice to hear that you are proud of me, that makes me feel :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/7/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 30 Amount Saved: $11.40 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 10 Seconds: 26

Den you are doing great. Yes go to bed and pull the cover over your head. I spent a lot of time in bed when I first quit. It was my safe place. Do whatever you need to do, just don't smoke. I proud of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your insights and feedback!! Today was better than yesterday, quite a bit actually. Physically i am doing better. Now, if i can just reprogram my brain i would be fine! I had one craving this morning and one before i left work this afternoon. Since i have been home i have had a few. I don't have any during work as that is not when i normally smoke. Although, right now i am in the only room i used to smoke in and on the computer, both of them BIG triggers. I am only allowing myself short visits in this room and on the computer until it gets easier. Just feeling a little bit light headed today, definitely not as "crabby" as i was last night, so boyfriend is happier! I am going to bed early tonight as that seemed to help last night. I do feel a bit more tired than usual, but mainly i go to bed to get the "quit smoking" out of my head. Anyway, enough rambling, i think and hope that i will survive. Den, Kristilu, & all of the Newcomers, You've gotten some great insight & advice already. I'll add my two cents... (1) Don't think about it - just keep not smoking. My mind would mess with me & try to figure out excuses to give up (now's not the right time, I don't want to do this, etc). (2) Distraction, Distraction, Distraction. Keep your mind busy - post here as much as you need, do crossword puzzles, watch movies, do some projects. (3) Remember - you've got a sudden increase of free time and it can be hard to keep busy. You'll soon realize how much time smoking consumed (what a waste!). Sending positive thoughts out to all of you! Hey Den & Kristilu! You're doing great! Just remember this is very much a mental battle and if you can quell the voice that tells you that you should go back to smoking, then you will succeed in this! How do you do that? Just by all the things we've been telling you to do, keeping busy, all the candy, gum, things that keeo your mind and mouth busy basically. Self talk helps alot. I kept telling myself (sometimes loudly if needed: I can do this! I am a non smoker! Smoking is not an option! I will NOT smoke! Not One Puff Ever -NOPE! I don't want to smoke ever again! I can get thorugh this! I am a winner! Pump yourself up as much as you can, it helps to silence that voice that wants you to give in! It does get better, alot better and soon, so hang in there! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 309 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,725 Amount Saved: $3,259.95 Life Gained: Days: 40 Hrs: 14 Mins: 10 Seconds: 12

Den, Hope by now, you are in bed.. I went to bed very early my first week with books about not smoking... I loved long, hot lavender baths, with a book about not smoking, The more I read the easier it seemed to be.. I also went to the movies a lot, just to pass the time. We all have been where you are, the best news is that it gets easier every day!!! Promise!!! Den, listen to these wise ones, look at their stats - this is how you do it. 2 more days a the nicotine is out of your body, then the addiction is mental - be ready to fight, are you armed? Cold bottled water, mints, gum, fruit, carrot or celery sticks, sour candies, etc...bring this with you to work. Brush your teeth after you eat and gargle with listerine - a clean mouth is a happy mouth :D I carried those listerine strips with me to help fight craves. I spent ALOT of time reading here. I was pissy, grumpy and tired too, your body is going through alot of changes. Be kind to it. Reward yourself right now - even if it is a nap, a book, chocolate - be proud. This is a hard thing you are doing. You don't want to repeat this day. Stay strong, don't give in, don't smoke. Not one puff ever. If you need help ask - and wait for replies. Deep breaths, you can do this, it is worth it Den. You are worth it.
