I need chat

16 years ago 0 447 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I am moving forward. Today I am cutting back drastically getting prepared for this. I'm doing it the best I can. I faltered the first time I set my quit date and now I have gotten back to a place where I think I can do this. Moving Forward Day By Day! And I need all this "Chat". It helps tremendously. Terry

Terry: I think the key words in that quote were "move forward". Definitely the first step is the hardest, but it doesn't become easier by delay. The addiction is winning every time you put off kicking it to the curb. Terry, please take that first step on Saturday as planned, and that will lead to the next and the next and the next............ If you falter, you can always pick yourself up and dust yourself off, and continue with pride in your journey. It is not written in stone that you have to get it right the first time, but it is important that you take that first step. Get on with it, girl. This came out of a daily reading I get in e-mail everyday. Perfect for this girl today. "When we decide that it's time for big changes in our lives, it is wise to ease into them by starting small. Small changes allow us to grow into a new habit and make it a permanent part of our lives, whereas sudden changes may cause a sense of failure that makes it difficult to go on, and we are more likely to revert to our old ways. Even if we have gone that route and find ourselves contemplating the choice to start over again, we can decide to take it slowly this time, and move forward."

Thanks Sylvie, I am finding this morning that it has become instantly easier to cut back. It's 10AM and I've had only 1 so far. Much better and it feels better. Wohooo!

Terry, This is your quit, and it's your decision to quit when you are ready. We are here to support your decision and help guide you along the way. If there is anything we could do to help you move along, please don't hesitate to ask! Sylvie

The reason I am here is to hear what you have to say. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am not easily intimidated or pissed off. Today is day 3 on the Chantix and I am working at cutting back again today, still working towards the "Saturday" quit. I am aprehensive, but I am still wanting to do this and I will continue to give it my best shot. My thoughts this entire time have not been that I do not want to do it, but when, will it be this Saturday or the next. Every single person that quit, quit when their time was right and I will too. Thanks to everyone. Terry

Terry - Please try to really read what Aloha said without putting up a defensive wall. If you go back to the beginning of this thread & read through, you'll see that others have expressed some similar sentiments. Bottom line - it's hard to watch you suffering with the anticipation of the quit without taking the next step. You seem stuck & cycling around and around. So Aloha, myself, and many others here want to do whatever it takes to help move you forward. My hope is that you'll be able to hear us without feeling attacked or negative. If we didn't care we wouldn't write. Terry, I'm going to be a little more direct with you. When you first came here you sounded like you really wanted to quit and had picked a date. I understand that a pretty stressful event has happened since then. But, unless I am reading things wrong, that event was expected, and you had picked your date anyway. Now, it seems that you have backed off on your desire and determination to quit. That, of course, is well within your right to do. And maybe that is even the best thing to do right now. Only you can answer that question. However, this site is about helping each other quit. Even though you have begun taking a stop smoking aid, chantix, you don't sound like you want to quit. Yes, chantix can cause some nausea, but you can reduce that by eating with it and drinking water. Many of us put up with that minor side effect because we had made up our minds to quit. This was a big, big goal for us. It can help you, too, if you really want to quit. If you don't really want to quit, chantix, and every other aid in the world, will not help you. You will get as much support and chat as you could ever want when and if you decide to take this quitting business seriously. But until you do, accept that quitting does include some uncomfortableness, and get on with it, I think that you will find that those of us who are busy actively working on and protecting our quits will gradually fade away from this thread. I sincerely wish you the best and hope that you soon realize that you can walk away from this awful addiction, especially now that you have chantix to help. I hope that you don't waste that expensive medication. When you decide that "enough is enough" I will support you fully. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 328 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,120 Amount Saved: $2,230.40 Life Gained: Days: 46 Hrs: 6 Mins: 11 Seconds: 29

HI I got the IM thing working.. so if anyone wants to add me theri buddy list.. it is working now. I got queasy today too. Tonights dose I took after dinner.. and so far so good. Igot just a bit light headed but it didn't seem to last long. I didn't get queasy.. or very little on the .5mg I am hoping taking it after food will help. Yesterday I was full of energy and today took 2 naps.. hope I sleep tonight.. Like Audrey says.. don't put a big emphasis on the date... cut down and when you r ready you are ready. The chantix made the cigarettes so bad to me.. that I didn't want them.. and I was definately not enjoying it.. I felt like a dragon had pooped in my mouth ...
