Hello New Life - I am very curious as to how Champix affected you. I am on it right now and have been for almost 2 weeks and have not had a diminish in cravings or any other change in my behaviour........please tell me what happened to you......All I have is very strange dreams.........My plan was to use Champix and cut back by using it and then use the patch at the end.........I am really disappointed that I have not lost any of the urges.....how long were you on it before you noticed something was different......anything you can tell me would be great......thanks Wheezie

Count me in, NewLife4Me...just holler if there is anything I can do. I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT...REMEMBER PMA (postive mental attitude) The mental part is the toughest, those physical cravings go away fairly quickly. Chantix will help. Hang Tough! Hi New Life, Thank you, I would love to be your buddy :) I started Chantix on Sunday. Today was first day of 2 pills a day. I have had 3 cigarettes today.. before 2nd pill.. I was going to allow myslef 6. I tried quitting a year ago and only lasted a couple weeks. I watched "Oprah" yesterday" she had a show on "Positive" thinking and some Great books and ideas.. making a board of positive thoughts, things you would like in your life. I have been doing that today... picturing myself without a cigarette, clean ashtray in car.. no smoke smells. $$$$ in the bank. and on the way to town, I stopped and treated my self to a latte ... and promised myslef this treat was to NOT smoke on the way to town.. :) ( I am on the West Coast >>>Pacific Time. ) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/11/2008 Smoke-Free Days: -3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: -24 Amount Saved: $-3.78 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: -25000

NewLife, You said, "I am scared, I am nervous and I am frustrated" which are all just one step away from being...EXCITED! You really are walking into a new, smokefree life and that rocks because as you said - smoking sucks. So, be excited that you are making the move into the land of the living. If you haven't yet, check out the Road to Success workbook under "Tools & Resources" or something close to that. It will help you get strategies in place for different situations. A great help for sure. We are rooting for you :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1280 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 25,600 Amount Saved: $5,760.00 Life Gained: Days: 99 Hrs: 18 Mins: 50 Seconds: 44

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

I was taking Chantix and really wondering if I would make my Q-Day, but as the first week went on, I found I wanted to smoke less and less. By the time the day before came, I hardly smoked at all. I've been smoke free for 75 days now, tempted, yes, but not enough to let all the good work go for naught. As with John in NC, I went off it before the full 12 weeks and feel great. I'm a lurker still and receive encouragement just reading. Over 300 days for many, awesome! But it's a day at a time and that's how I'm treating it. Who knew I would make 75 after smoking for over 50 years? It's becoming my mantra, just one day at a time.
