I know exactly what you mean, Changing! I've been falling asleep at my desk at work since yesterday. But before I go to sleep at night I feel like I could run 2 miles and still not be tired. Weird, isn't it? I am, definitely, experiencing this. I have never (and I still don't) had problems falling asleep...I am very lucky that way....and usually once I am out, I'm out 'till morning. Not anymore though. I fall asleep as usual, however by about 3:00a.m. I must be up every hour or or every other hour. I am much more tired during the days due to light sleep. My ride to work no longer consists of craving a cigarette...for now I am craving SLEEEEEEEP!!!!! I do have a feeling this will soon pass, so I am not to worried about it. I am worried for the other people around me who have to put up with me! I did tell my boss this morning though, that I am in rehab for the next few weeks. That is actually kind of what I feel like. It's a 28 day program, and I am mostly concerned for my mental and physical well being at this time...and I apologized in advanced for my slacking and fogginess!!!! Look at your stats though Changing....FANTASTIC!!!!!! Thanks, Changing. It's comforting to know that someone else is going through this. I could sleep 14 hours - and have once or twice. I never had trouble falling asleep at bedtime, but I used to sleep 7-8 hours max. Now I can lay down for a nap on a weekend and wake up the next day! I could curl up right now if my office chair had arms :) Maybe it's related to the crazy dreams I've been getting since I started the Chantix? Or the effect of smoking cessation on my blood pressure? Or... maybe oxygen shock :) Thanks for letting us know it IS temporary, Phil! Changing, You are doing great!!!!! Listen.. I'm not that much ahead of you. I was just like you. NOW........ I AM REARING TO GO. I have cleaned out allllllllll my closets and drawers. I am about to tackle painting my bedroom ( with help from my daughter when she gets back from her cruise) I get home from work and walk her dog and mine. I just got into 7 weeks and things are really turning around. Not that I didn't see progress all along......but it really is starting to loosen up. Hang in there. There is nothing worse than blowing it. I been there several times. I won't go there again. Changing, Guess what....I'm doing this too. Not just drained but either wide awake or sleeping like the dead for hours on end. I'll wake up, after sleeping for hours, will be awake for about an hour, and I'm ready to go back to sleep. Of course, I can't sleep while I'm working so I'm constantly yawning and can't wait until the day is over. The really bad thing is that I'm having trouble sleeping at night when I have to work the next morning. Once I'm home and when the weekends hit, I'll sleep sound and for hours on end. I even get tired of being asleep because I'll wake up long enough to realize how much of the day I've missed. Then I'm out like a light again. Ugh!!!! It's 11:30 here in Texas...I'm wide awake....Have to go to work in the morning......Crap!!! Are we having fun yet? Changing Don't forget to eat properly, remember there is a reason that smoking curbs hunger and part of it is that smoking increases glucose in the blood stream...that is how you get the energy boost from smoking...Also I find that I am less sleepy if I drink lots and lots of water...I am very big on that...There is literally very few times when I do not have a bottle of water withing my reach...For me there is a connection between dehydration and that bobble head doll feeling...I can not explain it nor have I found any science to back it up, but it sure does work for me... I was just going to say the same thing as Healerwithin.. Your body is healing and we must be gentle with it. When it's possible for you to lay down and take a nap - do it! For me it lasted a good 4-5 weeks and because I am on disability and looking after my very ill husband I would lay down to nap whenever he didn't need me for something. I awoke refreshed emotionally, mentally and physically :) Eventually your body will not require so much sleep and the fatigue will lessen. Also, I found that in the 1st half of my smoke free life I was munchin' on a lot of very unhealthy foods which I'm sure dragged me down (and yes I gained weight too) - So a change in my crave cart to all healthy things also made me feel less fatigued. Stay strong.. stay smoke free and get lots and lots of rest! Hi Changing - You are definately right on schedule. The first couple weeks are such a struggle that by the time we get through them, we are exhausted. Take good care of yourself, drink lots of water, exercise when you can, and nap when you can..........Phil is right......it does get better! I have been experiencing fatigue especially in the afternoon and evening. I just go home from work and take a nap. Actually just I could take a nap right now and it is not even 10 am. I am trying to eat right and drink plenty of fluids, but I just have this overwhelming need to sleep and no motivation to do anything else. I hope this passes quickly I have a lot to do.
