Hi Jan, Look at you, day #3!! Good for you! Is there any better way to spend an evening than curled up with a blanket in front of the TV? If that helps you these first few weeks then, you just park yourself there! It's all about taking it slow and giving yourself time outs to get used to your new smoke free lifestyle. Sounds like you are doing it! Check out the thread by ladycigevictor on putting it in writing. It will give your family a little insite on what you are going through right now. Lot's of good stuff to read! Congratulations on Day 3!! That is a great accomplishment - you should be proud. Remember that "hell week" only lasts 7 days. and that it does get easier - something that i never believed and wanted to kill anyone who said that - but it really does. Read all you can here it will help you deal with the cravings etc. And come and post when you need the support! We are all here for you! Love the blanket and cozying up on the sofa. You are heading to a winning quit, I know it. Its nice to know I'm in good company! Windy, I like your idea of doing the tough stuff early in the day. That will work quite nicely. And the evenings, well, that's the time for relaxation. Day 3 and counting!!!!! Thanks for the support guys, Cheers, Jan :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/27/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 50 Amount Saved: $17.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 14 Seconds: 33

Hi, Jan...making it through the first day is the best feeling... tomorrow (Tuesday) you'll just do it again... you sound like you have the right spirit to fight the nicotine... The rough days are par for the course... today I screwed up by putting too much coffee in my morning pot and spent all of today until now being crabby and nervous and being bark-y at my poor wife ( she knows that it's the Quit but she was angry that I went all addictive and screwed up my coffee deliberately)! Dang! Congratulations on making it through the day Jan - You can do this! I can remember wondering if I would ever enjoy the evenings again...It's funny how we do change some of our habits after we quit - I still do all my tough stuff in the early part of the day and leave the evenings to relax. (The good part is that at the beginning I HAD to hide my head under the comforter...now I just do it cause it feels so good!) Take care! Boy did I have some days when I first quit! My poor son. There were a couple times I was yelling at him that I can remember him just looking at me like he was afraid an alien was going to climb out of me or my head was going to explode. It was kind of awful, actually. But, it went away and I calmed down and now am happy to say that I handle stress much better and have less severe reactions to almost everything. Hang in there, Jan. Have some cake! ;p :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 156 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,680 Amount Saved: $912.60 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 3 Mins: 58 Seconds: 39

Remember Jan it gets easier. Are you on anything? The patch, gum or med? I'm on Chantix and it's been working really good. I'm not agitated or grumpy and I'm not having any cravings. I've been quit since Dec. 9/07 with a few minor slips. I'm doing really good now and it's smooth sailing so far. Just hang in there Jan.
