Hi Kev! Congratulations to you, fellow July Firecracker buddy! You are doing it! (sometimes kicking and screaming but you are doing it ;p) Let's look at it this way. At six months, it would be harder for us to start back smoking than it is to stay smokefree. Why? 1) we have to face ourselves in the mirror every day 2) we have to face all those around us and know that we have let them down 3) we have to think of excuses, other than lack of smoking, for being "moody" 4) once again, our whole lives will center around being a smoker and getting that fix. Just when we have found our freedom 5) no more justifications for rewards, must wait til Christmas and birthdays for gifts 6) I am sure in the past 6 months the prices have gone up, gotta work it back in the budget 7) we know just how hard those first 72 hours will be. Do we really want to go back there? It is worth it but, do we really want to start all over? Just as we have to remind ourselves everyday that we no longer are smokers, we should also remind ourselves why we don't want to be smokers. ;) you have come a long way, Kev! You should be really proud of yourself! :) hugs to you! Hi JDK You are doing just great. I too stopped coming here for a while, it seemed to only make me crave more. Now I feel I am past that point and I can start helping people again. Its almost a year for me and I remember you from earlier. If its the craves that bother you, take a deep breath every time one hits. I know i still have to do that sometimes. I don't necessarily crave anymore, but just seeing someone smoking or walking past someone who has been smoking and smelling the odor, I then think about having one. But one really deep big breath and its out of my mind again. I hope that helps. Hi All, well I wasn't going to post today but eventually a sweet lady coaxed me back out of my shell. Today is half a year not smoking for me, so I guess I couldn't really not post :) I'd like to reiterate as I do every milestone, how grateful I am for such wonderful positive support. Not been having much luck with staying on the positive vibe myself recently. I try to remind myself to concentrate only on the here and now, but often end up doing that deep thinking. Eventually I convince myself that the longer I quit, the longer I prolong my mental torture. Same old, same old really. So in order to not go over the same ground all the time I have not been writing. Anyway, enough from me for today. I would just like to take this opportunity to congratulate all my July Firecracker friends for all that they have acheived. Keep it going guys! HUGS from Kev My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 180 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,500 Amount Saved: 756.00 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 3 Mins: 9 Seconds: 55
