Congrats on 6 months! That is QUITE an accomplishment. I've heard that the things you're describing are just part of recuperating. It's a small price to pay, isn't it? I can't wait until I too can claim 6 months, a year, 5 years, etc. My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 36 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,440 Amount Saved: $324.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 1 Mins: 8 Seconds: 19

Scott, Congratulations on six months! Sounds like your rewards have already started to kick it, take some time thought to really spoil yourself. Many smokers report having strange dreams for years after they quit. They have to remind themselves in the morning that they are ex-smokers. The weight gain is also normal and over time your body and metabolism will continue to adjust to your new and improved lifestyle. Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator

Hey Scott, congrats on your 6 months!! Good to hear that you've stuck with it and all of us newbies can't wait to have better skin, whiter teeth and we can't wait to smell better! But we will wait! Because we know it's coming! Good job! Hard to believe I made it after 20+ years smoking, but I feel great. I can swim and bike like I am floating on air. Food tastes better, skin is less wrinkled, teeth are whiter and I don't stink! But I have two side effects: 1) still occasionally have strange dreams (I used Chantix to quit and that is when they started). Last night I was smoking in my dreams and woke up realizing NO I DID NOT REALLY DO THAT!!! 2) gained about 5-7 lbs even though I am exercising a lot. I think this is a metabolism adjustment and may take a while to correct. I think the whole process goes better the more you exercise so get out there and walk, bike, run, swim . . . anything to get you moving and not thinking about it. Also, it gets those endorphins going and you stay much more relaxed. It is great to be free!
