Even acknowledging the addiction, quitting is still hard. I've thought for the past couple weeks I was over the hump and could be considered a non-smoker. Today, though, I found myself faultering. At Walgreens I eyed the cigarettes while checking out. It was kind of discouraging because I had thought I was past that - apparently not... I did realize though that I didn't really want them & checked out without yielding to temptation... Every time I think I've conquered the demon, I find that quitting is just not that easy... I disagree with you Sylvie. Quitting smoking isn't necessarily hard. I think its more a task that you have to find out what works for you. Having quit so many times, I realized that the times it was hard, was when I was least prepared. Once I learned that I was addict and that I had to learn how to treat myself as such, and that I needed to learn all I could about quitting, then it became a whole lot easier. Bottom line, make it easier on yourself by preparing as best you can. Read everything, twice if you have to. If it makes it even a little bit easier it is so worth the time. It may not be much of a motivation but I've been going to the dentist after a 7 year break. The root planing is expensive but nesecary if I wantto keep my teeth. Finally about done with the procedures best of all the fillings on my front teeth. Now I have water pik, elec toothbrush to help and without smoking should be doing fine. I don't have insurance but the money I.m saving really helps to pay for dental work. Quitting smoking is hard. For some it�s easier than for others but any way you put it, it�s no easy feat to quit. There�s a lot of decisions to sort through when it come to quitting, choosing a quit aid, cutting down or quitting cold turkey, when to stop, etc. Once you�ve finally ironed out all of the fine details it can be hard to find the motivation to actually get going. There are a lot of benefits to help keep people motivated to quit smoking; short/long term health, saving money, freedom from addiction, approval from self, friends and family� the list goes on and on. Apart from the benefits, it�s also really encouraging to reward yourself to keep motivated. Here are just a few ideas to keep the motivation strong.
