sue, i think i've been a bad influence with the hammer and all..... we may have to start a "what's your weapon of choice?" or an anger venting thread...... kristilu - hammer sue - skillet den - a stick i think it was... i know it has to get better, i think i'm just being bombarded with the mourning and the anger and the withdrawals and cravings all at once..... it really sux and then i get mad at myself for ever starting such an addiction.. of course as everyone else, " i used to just smoke when i drank!" Kristilu, I swear it is going to pass, it will get better - only if you keep quitting. The craves will stop as long as you keep quitting. This snappiness, tense, irritation will pass too, takes a bit longer, but jeez I am like that today and it has been months for me, this is just life pushing my buttons, but smoking never crossed my mind. I did think about using my cast iron skillet on John however :eg: hang tough - I know you can do it. c'mon Kristlu - you CAN do it. Sounds to me like you have some stress hormones you need to take care of, but smoking is not the answer. Scream if you have to, crying works, go for a walk or run, beat up a pillow, run up and down stairs a couple of times, whatever it takes. Just don't quit the quit. Kristilu, I feel for you! I have been there too, my friend. And guess what I did? I caved! Which is why I am here, starting over when I should be at the beach with the Octobreathers. The best advise I have for you is DO NOT SMOKE. No matter what. Make an appointment for a massage or spa treatment. Go shopping. Nothing works for women like a little retail therapy! ;) Cry if you have to. I cried many times at work. It's a little embarrassing, but just excuse yourself and go to the washroom. Hope that no one sees you. But if they do, explain that you are a little emotional right now and they'll understand. This is all very normal, I assure you. And you will get through it. Keep close to the site and stay away from the smokes. We are all rooting for you! YOU,my friend, are NOT going to fail! Don't let anyone (esp. JUNKIE) tell you otherwise. I went thru the exact same thing you are going thru. When tomorrow comes you will be stronger and soooo glad that you didn't cave and have a cigarette. I,too, am like you. A likable person who is very easy to get along with but the junkie will and does bring out the worst in us. Just picture that ugly green monster that is on those non-smoking commercials - that's what he looks like and that is what he does to us. No ugly green guy is going to beat us - we won't and we can't let him. JUST SAY NO TO UGLY GREEN GUYS!!! Today was sooo awful... by lunch time I could barely make it thru lunch at a public restaurant without crying. I probably should have just taken the day off, but my job just doesn't allow for such things. I'm starting to think, that i'm either going to quit my job or smoke. i just felt like such an ugly person today, an angry person and just miserable. my blood pressure was high today, and i thought i was going to have a heart attack from all the stress. i am 33 yrs old for God's sake. I shouldn't be feeling like this and I should be able to deal with this stuff. I'm trying to think back at how I dealt with it before I smoked and I can't even remember. I am very easy to get along with, i don't know anybody that doesn't like me or like being around me, but people are driving me crazy right now. if work tomorrow is like it was today, i will probably leave. i just don't think i can handle another day like this. i still just feel like sobbing.... i don't know if i can do this right now or not. the junkie is telling me i'm going to fail, that i cannot control her.... today i felt like the junkie was right. i'm just sad.... Kristi Oh the lovely day 3! You can come and ask Murray about irritable during my day 2 & 3. It wasn't pretty. In the past when i was quitting something different i went and got a stick and started beating on a tree while i would just scream to let all the tension our each time i hit the tree. Now, mind you, you might want to try this away from the public eye, just so they don't come and take you away. In your case, grab a 2x4, your hammer and nails and just start pounding those nails in. I just find it helps to just scream and get it over with cause i had sooo much built up rage that i needed to get out. This really does work, or it did for me. Don't keep it bottled up - get it out - let it out! Take care of yourself, okay? Oh, yes that rage. It will get better and sometime bosses just need a (mental) kick in the a$$. Just remember you can do this and yes you are turning some corners. Just make sure you have your hammer and nails, LOL. There is a song out there called "If I had a hammer" I am not good with words, but I think someone can add some of the lines. "If I had a hammer, I'd hammer in the morning, I would hammer in the evening, I would hammer all day long." I think that is some of it. Good advise, Daniel. Kristilu - the only thing that comes to mind right now is that even though it feels like you are on a roller coaster ride - YOU are still the one in control - Craves, nicotine, withdrawals and etc can only make something mroe likely - they can't take control of you. *hugs* I know how you feel and I have a lot of sympathy for you. It's no fun - not at all.
