I did not start incorporating rewards into my quit on a regular basis soon enough! It is very important. I do not know if it motivated me, (ie,if you don't smoke today you can buy some perfume, educating myself about nicotine addiction was my main motivator) but it sure makes me feel good to buy something for myself, or take some time to relax or do something out of the ordinary, like get a massage, or a pedicure. It helps relieve the stress that we experience when we quit smoking. It helps build our self esteem back up. We do deserve nicities. And when we do overcome a difficult situation or a big crave, a reward is well deserved.
