The first Saturday of my quit my family and I went to the "Titanic" exibit. Who could possibly think of smoking while being engrossed by history? I think changing routine is incredibly important. I've been making a real effort to change every routine I had as a smoker. I drink tea in a morning instead of coffee. Then if I still fancy a coffee, I stop off for one on the way to work in a caf I'd never been to as a smoker. At work, I'll drink grapefruit juice instead of diet coke. If I want a break, I'll walk round the office and chat to people who don't look too busy rather than standing outside with the Tobacco Slaves. And so on. As I think I've said before, weekends are the easier part for me, but going for long walks in the country with the dog and the kids has been very good. I broke my weekend routine pretty well this morning, by the way. Had 90 minutes dental surgery (an implant I'd been meaning to do for ages). Costs a fortune and hurts like a *******. And now I'm not allowed to smoke for three weeks. Well, boo-hoo. Cigarettes Not Smoked

My wife and I had been going to a bar every 2nd Saturday of the month with smoking friends. They have a drawing for a children's charity, 2/3 of the money goes to the kids. 1/3 goes to whoever has the number drawn. Last month, I couldn't wait to get out of there, and my wife demanded a cigarette all the way home. I didn't cave, and wouldn't let her either. She quit the day after me. We smelled so bad all the way home, my wife and I decided that we just can't go there anymore, even though it's our circle of friends. Guess what? Our friends understand, and they're trying to quit! Rediscover an old interest or find a new one! As a smoker, I found gardening boring (probably because I was always stopping for cig breaks and never got much done). Now I enjoy it - it also saved my quit in those early weekends where I just had to keep busy to stay quit! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 698 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20,940 Amount Saved: 5,235.00 Life Gained: Days: 113 Hrs: 18 Mins: 22 Seconds: 52

Hey den, You are right to be aware of what a trigger tomorrow could be and to get some strategies in place. What about changing your routine altogether? Going to a coffeshop instead and treating yourself to a fancy coffee? Or taking a walk or a shower first before coffee time? I'm going on Day 4 of no caffeine and I've actually had to shake up my morning routine because I really did like my morning coffee. You are doing great and just think come Monday, you'll have a full WEEK under your belt! That is definitely good motivation, eah? Cigarettes Not Smoked

One of my things was going out to smoke at half time in the basketball game. I'm an old timer and can remember when you could smoke in the lobby. Now I notice fewer and fewer going out at half time and can smell the ones who do a mile away. Taste and smell are good reasons not to smoke. You just got to tell those triggers N.O.P.E. I am one of the people that Danielle mentioned. This is my first smoke free weekend. Usually on Saturday mornings, i like to relax, drinks lots of coffee and smoke lots. The cravings were/are definitely there tonight. I am allowing myself only one coffee each morning this week and i have made sure i have it at work in my office where i can't smoke. Now tomorrow will be different, a big change in routine. A little uptight about it. I agree with aloha, it is a great feeling to know you dont have to make time and a place to smoke while out, and if you have friends that smoke you dont have to go out side with them unless you chooose to, the addiction wont get to choose for you :) Life becomes alot more flexable and more enjoyable :) Tresa My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1982 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 39,640 Amount Saved: $6,937.00 Life Gained: Days: 283 Hrs: 9 Mins: 11 Seconds: 14

It's a great thing when you can go to the movies, a musueum, a play or a concert and not miss a second because of going out to smoke or thinking about it midway through. Plus, with the money saved by not smoking, now you can afford those extras, including better seats ; ) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 295 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,800 Amount Saved: $2,006.00 Life Gained: Days: 41 Hrs: 16 Mins: 39 Seconds: 8
