Well Bear... the goat would ask.... "Will ONE evening be worth your 286 days on Monday?" If it is...then smoke and play.... :eg: If it's not.....then stay away!! :8o: (like my little ryme) You don't have to respond.....I already know your answer. Bear, what would you tell a newbie? Don't drink and stay away from the bars. It is just another night with a little glamor (LOL) wrapped around it, but in the morning it all smells the same. :eg: If you do go write a list of names from this site and if you want to smoke look at that list first and ask yourself do I really want to tell them, my friends, I smoked? Think about it. Bear, how about throwing a small New Years get together at your place. That way you won't be compelled to "go out" to a stinky bar. It is not safe to drive around anyway. I will be here in cyber world. We are not be go outers anymore. So if nothing else, check out the SCC NYE party. Hello Bear, The buddy system will work! You are your own best friend and worst enemy right now. You know what the right thing is and you want to do the right thing. The demon knows you too well and will try to trip you up. Keep it simple, the right thing is not to smoke. No amount of rationalization can get by that simple truth. If your feeling weak then let a friend help. Arm him or her with the simple truth and let them help remind you when the moment comes. The best advice I have is to enjoy this time of the year. These times were meant to be celebrated. You know smoking will not help you celebrate. The nonsmoker in you wants to have some fun and deserves some enjoyment from the season. Show the nonsmoker a good time and arm yourself with the strongest mojo you've got, a good friend who you can trust. Stay strong Bear and if you can't be strong then stay smart. Bear, You've gotten some great support from your fellow members. If you know this situation will be a trigger, plan ahead. Have an exit and a coping strategy. Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

If you feel you absolutely must go to the bar, bear, could you stash a few tidbits from the SSC in your sporran? Also, could you ask one of your friends to absolutley, positively not allow you to light up? Knock any smoking materials right out of your hand? Kind of like an SSC posse in absentia? I agree, Bear. Have some drinks at home and at the treehouse with us. Let's stay away from the bar this year. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 126 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,780 Amount Saved: $737.10 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 7 Mins: 3 Seconds: 45

Use your head, Bear, and don't let your junkie self use it. If going to the bar puts you in danger, then don't go. Decide what's important to you. Let this be the New Year that you make a change in your life.
