About a year ago today I seriously decided to find a way to quit smoking and change my life around. Yes it took me a good long while to gather the information and prepare to set my quit date.
A new group of quitters may be lurking, thinking about quitting or getting ready to take the new years's plunge. No matter how long it takes, when you do quit smoking the change is like night and day. I wrote this about my experiences some time ago...maybe it will help someone now.
What a difference a day can make.
One day I woke up unable to breathe because of my heavy smoking.
The next day, I fearfully decided to find a way to quit smoking.
One day I had no idea how I could ever quit smoking and still be happy.
The next day I started educating myself on how to quit smoking with a positive attitude.
One day I searched for honest information on how to quit from people who had done it successfully.
The next day I was a member of SSC.
One day I started doing the Program tools at SSC.
The next day I understood just how seriously I was �hooked� on cigarettes.
One day I had never read a quit smoking book.
The next day I read �The Easyway To Quit Smoking� from front to back.
One day I was afraid to go through constant, endless withdrawl symptoms.
The next day I was eager to begin because I knew it could only last 72 hours.
One day I thought I HAD to quit smoking.
The next day I gratefully KNEW I no longer had to smoke.
One day I thought I was going to try to quit a bad habit.
The next day I knew I had the choice to stop giving into nicotine addiction.
One day I believed quitting smoking would be like giving up my best friend.
The next day I realized friends don�t try to injure or kill me.
One day I smoked without giving it any thought.
The next day I started a �smoking� diary.
One day I thought I enjoyed smoking.
The next day I made a list of pros and cons and realized I didn�t enjoy anything about smoking.
One day I had no idea how I could ever replace my smoking habits.
The next day I learned to vary my routines, drink water, chew on straws and recognize many of my triggers, including HALT.
One day I thought I�d have to quit alone.
The next day I had 2 amazing quit buddies and every day brought more.
One day I was a slave to nicotine addiction.
The next day I began to live again.
One day I was a smoker.
The next day I was free.
You can be free too...just start reading, knowledge will give you the power to overcome your fears...prepare, the more you prepare the easier it will be...commit, a firm commitment will strengthen your resolve...set your quit date, this is not the end of something good in your life it�s the beginning of a whole new you.
