Holiday and the lurking craves

16 years ago 0 1000 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Sparky, I have suffered and craved through every first. Since I quit in March I guess Christmas, New Years and the first big snow storm should sum up the year. We have no family around and spend the holidays with friends so the stresses should be a little less I hope. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 259 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,770 Amount Saved: $2,525.25 Life Gained: Days: 36 Hrs: 15 Mins: 5 Seconds: 32

Sparky, Commitment!! this is the key to the quit.... The good thing for me is that no one except my husband smokes soooo... the family thing will be easy.. The other stressful things.... being Santa, owning a toy store, preparing Christmas Eve dinner & breakfast for the in-laws, buying presents, planning & attending school parties, holiday programs, parties w. alcohol (the hardest for me) We can all do these things without smoking!!!!!!!!!! We are non smokers. We look & smell great We have more energy than ever My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 101 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,020 Amount Saved: $303.00 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 19 Mins: 1 Seconds: 43

Sparky, Thank you for this timely reminder. The holidays is indeed a trigger for many and for many diverse reasons: stress, anxiety, sadness... Just as Sparky mentioned, those of you who do see challenges lying ahead should start planning for it now. Please let us know if we can any of assistance. Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

Sparky, that mouse cracks me up! I have inspirational posts and lists and things taped to the inside of my kitchen cabinet doors, my fridge, and in my purse. I plan to refer to them regularly throughout the holiday season. When it's all over we can celebrate making it through! Well done Sparky for being the one to mention the 'C' word! I was thinking this morning about whether I'd find it just too hard to resist at Christmas. It is often said on here that you must go through the cycle of one year to finally feel that you have cracked this thing and you can see their point. We'll need to revisit our pledges as the holiday approaches. I was just sitting here and looked at the calendar. Do you realize that Christmas is three (3) weeks away? Now for some of us this will be the first one smoke free :) I also know that there are big time stressors out there. The monster is just wringing his hands to nab one of us. We need to recommit to our quits. There are going to be family functions, parties, and just the plain hassle of trying to get things done and when it is over the sadness sets in. For me there is not much family for me to celebrate with, so I have to be on the watch for the monster. It is the after that has gotten me in trouble so I plan to have some projects (small :p) in place. We need a plan of action; what are you going to do to put the monster in its place? Please remember N.O.P.E - Not One Puff Ever!! And of course we will all help one another. SSC rules!!!
