Try Cutting back- Let me know if that can work

As far as I am concerned - this approach worked for me! I got down to 3 cigs (in the evening) - then, after a month, I thought I'm bored with all this! Haven't looked back since! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 669 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20,070 Amount Saved: 5,017.50 Life Gained: Days: 107 Hrs: 12 Mins: 56 Seconds: 24

Grin" I do believe we had the same personal trainer! I came back to this post to finish up what I did not have time to do last night. I was trying to figure out how I was going to compose what was on my mind; that's seldom seems to be an easy task  However, there it was, right they in front of me, on your post! Thank you so much for putting those words together. You are exactly right, you get to practice using delaying techniques using coping skill... You find out what triggers are going to challenge the most... This is great and I see Grin that this technique has worked for at least two! What else?? :eg: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/22/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 691 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,438 Amount Saved: $3,800.50 Life Gained: Days: 126 Hrs: 2 Mins: 16 Seconds: 28

sorry, hit the full speed ahead button by mistake! I wanted to say that by cutting back, you are having to start practicing your coping skill, distract and delay skills and see that there are many other things in life to do other than smoking! :) G My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 146 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,380 Amount Saved: $700.80 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 15 Mins: 30 Seconds: 59

Stickin, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Many have found it easier to quit by reducing their consumption before their quit as this lessens the severity of withdrawal symptoms. Danielle. Bilingual Health Educator

Its rough quitting. The more heavily you are involved with smoking, the tougher it is to give it up. That is why I advocate reducing your cigarette intake way down to maybe 4 per day and steady youself at 4 per day, quit and use an NRT. That is what worked for me. Have it done with!
