lol unhooked.. I went to the dentist as a reward, too! Bear, I hope that I can find that place that you're at! I'm still comparing ymself to all the smokers around me and being thankfull that it's not me, and I think that's got my senses numbed plenty. Hey Bear. I am right there with you. I went to the dentist last month to "reward" myself for not smoking (thinking I would get a nice clean and polish). Ended coming out of the surgery minus two teeth - so not such a great reward in terms of feeling good, lol (well smile gingerly anyway). They never tell you that smoking is bad for your dental health, but they should. Still, I went back today to get two fillings done and he said "Oh, I see you are still not smoking." So, yes, they can tell. If my teeth are the only price I pay for smoking over 30 a day for 25+ years, I'll consider myself lucky.
What had happened to me over the years that I was smoking had my mind been so dulled that I had forgotten what is was like to appreciate generosity, fresh air,the smell of a womans perfume, dull days ,sunny days or as duffis said just getting out of bed for another day.
Ain't that the truth! It's sort of like waking up from a fitful sleep and realizing all that you've missed out on. Smoking is like a self-imposed prison but we never knew we were in it until we get set free :8o: Here's to a speedy recovery for our Bear and our Horse! Bear, I too have just returned from the dentist. No extractions today, but apparently several in a month or two. And all as a result of smoking. Be warned! That was one heck of a deal Bear! I just had to take my little dog in for a cleaning and 2 teeth extractions and the bill was over $300. And I am sure bear teeth are much larger than maltese teeth ! :) I will bet that you had a much easier time in the dentist's chair now that you are a nonsmoker right? Didn't feel like you were going to choke to death? I was lucky enough to have a root canal a few weeks ago and amazed myself at how well I did now that I don't have that smoker's hack!! :) Grin My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 146 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,380 Amount Saved: $700.80 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 15 Mins: 30 Seconds: 0

I hope Bear that you're not in a lot of pain with the extractions. I understand that doctors won't do anything for you any more if you smoke. I don't know how true that is. Way to go in hanging in there Bear. Thanks for the dental answer Tresa. I wish I had taken a picture of the inside of my mouth before I quit. That way I could compare.
