Hi Azure & Welcome!! Congratulations on making the decision to improve your life. It is so worth it to rid yourself of the addiction. By the way, you are selling yourself short by thinking that you have to have quit time under your belt in order to offer advice. Just by making the decision to quit, you have a world of knowledge to share. We are all in this together and we learn from each other. Remember to take it, one hour at a time in these first few days, and then it's one day at a time. You can do it!! Hi Azure, I also smoked for over 30 years..an pack to a pack and a half a day..If i went out drinking, maybe 2 packs. You know, when i was having a beer or two with friends, I would smoke one every 5 minutes or so. You quit for over a year before, so you have been through this before. It is a mind set. Tell yourself over and over that smoking is not an option...not an option if you get stressed, bored, angry, happy, full of cravings, restless, depressed, so on and so forth. We all need to re learn how to handle all the different situations in our lives without smoking. It was only an escape anyway..an escape that did not work. Read and read. You can do this! new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 192 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,608 Amount Saved: $960.00 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 13 Mins: 28 Seconds: 12

Good luck Azure, We are about the same age & smoked about the same length of time. You can get through this, if you think you can. Just read & post & ask for help if you need it... Welcome azure, You're in the right place. One day at a time, and you'll be fine. You're off to a great start, just be sure to reward your small victories. 1st day, 2nd day, a week etc. It'll give you the motivation to stay quit. You've got a tremendous support group here, use the resources and before you know it, you'll be done smoking forever. Hello all, I'm new to this community and have enjoyed the posts I've read so far. The support shown for all the new non-smokers is incredible! Someone once said to me "I'm a smoker who chooses not to smoke", and I think that in my case that's true. I'm on day two, cravings are manageable with NRT lozenges. That "spaced out" feeling is a treat isn't it?? Almost an out of body experience :p. I'll definitely be back here every day for however long it takes to totally overcome this addiction. I've smoked for over thirty years with one smoke free period of a year and a half (and how I started again I will never be able to explain...stupid, stupid, stupid), and am DETERMINED to make a go of it this time around. Perhaps in a few months I will be confident enough to offer advice, and for now offer my support to all, and in particular to those who are on the first few days of "hell week". PS, I hope this posts okay, I was unable to get the preview to work even though I've allowed popups. Was only able to see the text when I selected it with the mouse. Maybe the preview is black text on black background???
