Well, of course you made it through without smoking. You're a non-smoker & non-smokers don't smoke, silly! Hang in, Bibbles. The junkie will have a tantrum around now, because it's starting to look like you're serious. Just keep doing what you're doing, because you've been doing it for 8 days & it works. Here's my hand, take it. Get your list of quitting reasons & keep it in your other hand & you can't light up now. A bath always worked for me because I knew I wouldn't go out for smokes naked with my hair wet. Maybe try that (the bath, not the going out naked with your hair wet), with some deep breathing & soothing music. And, Bibbles, tomorrow, when you've gotten through this, get yourself a nice little reward, and congratulate yourself on 9 days smoke-free. Hi Bibbles. Sorry for the tough time you are having right now. The first couple weeks after you quit aren't always a lot of fun. Anxiety and cravings (I have had both) actually respond to some of the same kinds of things. For instance, deep breathing and stretching are good relaxation techniques I have used for both and have great results. If you can, some rigorous exercise can be helpful as well. Be proud of yourself for doing this really wonderful and hard thing! It gets easier each day so stick with it and keep posting if you are having a hard time (and even if you aren't). :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 97 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,910 Amount Saved: $567.45 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 17 Mins: 44 Seconds: 53

Hi Bibbles, Congratulations on 8 days smoke free! There are some tough days along this journey. The only way to ensure better days ahead is NOT to smoke. My advice is to just hold on tight, use distractions, and find something to keep yourself busy. I started a new hobby (cross-stitch) to keep myself busy. When tough cravings hit, drink cold water, take a shower, or soak in a bath. Chewing gum helps lots of folks. I found that drinking out of a straw and eating sunflower seeds helped me a lot. Right now is really bad, all I can do is think about cigarettes. I feel a little anxious right now and I think that's why I have such a strong urge to smoke.....argh!!!!
