Mr Ed, that sucks. Thanks for the reminder, John also, has bad teeth issues that neither one of us knew were because of smoking. Awww, crap, Mr. Ed, that's a drag. My sister has had a terrible time with her teeth, too, and has had several pulled. She's only 43. So far, I've been lucky & last time I was at the dentist, he said if I stay quit, I will probably be able to keep them. I'm sending you some apple sauce for dessert after your carrots. Sorry about the teeth, but glad that you quit before it became oral cancer. I'm going to send some creamed carrots your way so you can keep your great eyesight. Yes, that is one of the things that isn't mentioned very often. Smoking is extremely bad for your mouth, teeth, gums and tissues! It does improve somewhat when you quit, but as usual the earlier you can quit the better! (Thanks for pointing that out Mr. Ed!) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 249 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,225 Amount Saved: $2,626.95 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 11 Mins: 4 Seconds: 8

No - this is not a joke Nor is it some kind of a trick.. Some of the 'older' people here might recall that I said that one of the triggers for my quit was after a visit to the dentist where I discovered that I had a bad case of gum disease. The reason I was not already aware of this is because my gums were not bleeding. And guess what - The reason that my gums were not bleeding was because I was a heavy smoker: lack of oxygen to the extremities = lack of blood supply. So when I quit, my teeth started bleeding profusely. After that, took all the care of them that I could. However, it now appears that despite my efforts, the gum disease has affected the underlying bone and I will lose many teeth prematurely. I am not looking for sympathy - but any would-be quitters reading this - please, please, please - pay attention. This is one of the milder forms of disease caused by smoking..
