Why Do I still hang around ??? good question.I think that I enjoy the company of these people so much and occasionaly I come up with something thats relevant and they flatter me and increase the size of my ego somemore. My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 230 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,140 Amount Saved: $2,300.00 Life Gained: Days: 52 Hrs: 15 Mins: 16 Seconds: 41

I remember when I first came to this site. I was so proud of each day that I went smoke free. 5 days was just as exciting as 301 days. It just feels better and better and better every day. That is the only difference. I am still quitting just like you are. I still post because if something I say helps one more person quit smoking, then I am giving back to this site. I am sure I won't hang here forever, but for now, I am happy. I have also am curious as to what is going on around here. You never know what kind of party we will be celebrating! Cat, I guess we all have our individual reasons to be here. I felt it was my responsiblity as a member of this site, to help newbies, the way I was helped when I came here. I also feel that in giving back to others it helps me in my own quit. Cat, when you have been here for a few months, going thru this journey, you make friends, you have quit buddies who feel like family, because even though it is an anonymous site, you go through an intimacy with your quit family and you can't help but become attached, at least temporarily. There are people from the inception of this site that come back here occasionally to say Hi and Thanks! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 245 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,125 Amount Saved: $2,584.75 Life Gained: Days: 29 Hrs: 23 Mins: 21 Seconds: 47

I was just thinking about this this morning. For the first few months I absolutely replaced my addiction to cigarettes with addiction to this site. Lately I have been weaning off of it. I can go hours now without even thinking about it..lol Like others have said, encouraging others here helps me as much as I hope it helps them. I'm not much of a joiner usually, but belonging to this group is rewarding and fun...well, most of the time fun ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 228 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,120 Amount Saved: $1,550.40 Life Gained: Days: 31 Hrs: 20 Mins: 31 Seconds: 15

Me, I'm a stat-flasher :p success celebrator and I pipe in when the inspiration hits me (usually very long winded, so I try to keep the posts to a minimum!) I've noticed I do tend to come back when life's little stresses come through, instead of picking up a cigarette, I pick up a keyboard ;) And you'll definitely see me here a bit when the big one year comes round to help the 2008 1/1-ers in their new journey. Best to you in your quit! x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 308 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,084 Amount Saved: 1,694.00 Life Gained: Days: 25 Hrs: 16 Mins: 1 Seconds: 21

Gudday there Cat. Great stats. You Know, as a Cold Turkey quitter, coming here doesn't bother me at all. I don't get craves, a fear of relapse or whatever - what are craves anyway ?. Yes i have turned the page, & tbh i never really had any probs as a smoker or non-smoker + i have more strength & determination for things now than i can handle ! As part of my new life (as a non-smoker) i simply feel the need to help people in their efforts in becoming smoke free. I want to offer the truth... oh & flash my stats of course. Great site, Great People & what a great cause ! Just wanted to say... Unhooked you are one of the people who I found inspiring and motivating when I first joined this site. Here's a sincere thank you for sticking around. Hey, Cat. I don't know if I qualify as being here for a long time, but I do know that just like our quits are different, our reasons for being here are different. There are some people who found that being here made them think of smoking too much, or caused them to focus on the quit itself rather than their new non-smoking lifestyle. Those people sometimes leave altogether but more commonly, they check in once in awhile to see how things are going. Others leave for a period of time & then come back because they feel they have something to offer newer quitters, or they want to celebrate their healthy new lives with people who can understand. I'm still here because I still get inspiration and support from the true long-timers & some of the newbies, I have friends here that I like to check in with, & I want to help others the way I was helped. I want to show that quitting should be a positive thing, you can be happy about it & have fun while you do it. I don't think Iwould be quit today without this site, it made me see quitting in a whole new light and it helps my quit to pass that along. Keep up your quit, Cat, you're doing great.
