Blue cloud-
sometimes it seems as if, deep down, so many people are egoistic, leaving others alone when they need us most. I'm so often disappointed by others. Death seems so unfair sometimes. Especially when people die alone.
But then, I find somebody who cares- and that makes me believe in humanity and love again.
You make a difference in this world.

I care too.
I also work with the elderly - as a volunteer - and the other day I took one of my 'old ladies' shopping. I noticed at the bottom of her list 'cigs'. When I asked why she was buying cigarettes she said they were for her son who always asks if she has any when he visits (She used to smoke and stopped about 8 years ago).
So I had to get in the queue at the tobacco counter and buy 20 M***bo Lights for her and that used to be my brand......
I thought that was brave of me!!!

Hey BC it's very sad sometimes, when people don't see the forest for the trees. Unfortunately when it is your job to provide that care, some people don't see past the "job" thing! And there is a very big difference between a caregiver who just does their job, and someone who cares. Tell your friend to take pride in a job well done, she can proud of herself, even if her patient was blind to it. :)

Hi Blue Cloud. I CARE! I also totally understand exactly what this has to do with smoking. Call it a connection ;)
God doesn't give us more than we can bare and His will is always being done. Remember that. So many times in life I have felt no one cared and this has been one of the biggest triggers to overcome.
One thing people around here and my quit have taught me is about perspective. We always have the choice to see things the way we want to. Look at all the people that will benefit from the organization the widow left her wealth to. How AWESOME for your friend because I'm sure that in all of this God has something very important for her as well. He blesses those who give of themselves and He takes care of all of us because He loves us.
You are an inspiration to me Blue Cloud. I am so very proud of you and your quit. I am also very proud of your friend for giving of herself. There are a lot of people who give without anything in return. Rest assured, she will be taken care of.
