Great idea Tom! I was thinking about handing them parsnips at the start of the journey and telling them that they would feel much better afterwards, but your idea is a hit (if a hollow plastic one). Hi Sullydog, I am glad you posted this. My brother has been doing work on our house the last few Saturdays and he is a chain smoker. I have asked him several times not to smoke in the house but he just keeps lighting up and my craves have been off the charts after he leaves. I don't know why I am craving because the smell of house when he is here is making me sick. Yes I do believe we are craving and in some way there smoke set off the addiction roller coaster again. Good for you Sullydog, your quit is strong. To me these days, smoking is like the idea of being possessed. It's a mindless thing that you do because IT wants it. If you can't take back some control to be a little considerate then your a smoking machine with little you can do about it. I do have an idea for you to consider. Get yourself one of those small plastic baseball bats, you know the really light and hollow ones. If someone smokes around you pop em with it. It won't hurt them but will get their attention. Tell them it's a new habbit you picked up and ask them what they think about it. Before they have a chance to answer pop them again. I'm sure they'll ask you to stop then ask them to return the favor. It's nearly certain they won't smoke near you again (especially if they see you have the bat). Beleive me if it were my car there would have been NOOOO SMOKING. However it was not, lesson well learned never never think all other smokers care about your health I know that sounds harsh, but that is how I feel right now. When I smoked I always tried to be considerate of non smokers, Oh well. It's odd how smelling cig smoke can kick off a craving. Even when the smell is recognized as being unpleasant. Ohh that stinks really bad, translates in the brain as kicking off a craving! If smoke is fresh enough, it can make me start coughing. I can't tolerate the smell, but a drift is enough to kick off a craving that will last a week. The title had me worried too! I'd recommend putting up 'This is a no smoking zone - fine $50' in the car next time. I'm glad you didn't give in and keep at it Sullydog. It is just being close to smokers again that sometimes kicks of those urges. At least now that you are non smoker you can smell how strong it is to others. Whew, Sully! Scared me for a moment. Surprised you let them smoke in the car. Surprised they wanted to knowing you recently quit. I guess the alternative would be stopping every 30 minutes or so... You are stronger than me. I would have yelled at someone, I'm sure.
