Good stuff, Kev! I'm so happy to hear your strenght and determination coming through this week. Why do you feel guilty for buying music? You must be saving a ton by not smoking and not going to the pub. Music is good for your mind and soul so I think it a good investment and you should only feel guilty if you don't buy music. You could also say it's good for your physical health because it gets you out exercising. Seriously, would you walk if you didn't have your ipod to keep you company? You know you have the mind/body/spirit to think of. Should I keep going on with more reasons you NEED to buy music? Just let me know, k? I promise not to smoke today, tomorrow or Saturday when Kev arrives at the beach exhausted from swimming but wearing headphones and listening to well deserved and much needed music in the form of his beach playlist. Have a great day, Kev! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 54 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,620 Amount Saved: $315.90 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 20 Mins: 33 Seconds: 40

Kev, great to hear from you and to hear that positivity back in your keystrokes. Sounds like you have taken control back again, through the music as well as baths and walking. You are in charge of your quit, not the junkie!!!! Now i can breathe a sigh of relief.....and get the wave riding supplies ready See ya on the beach in two days!!!!!!! Fantastic!!!!! And I promise you, I will not smoke today, Friday or Saturday...it's not me who's gonna litter the beach with butts..nosirree! Good Morning everyone. Aloha/Sue/Unhooked/Kelly :) No need to get those Rodents out. I am here and back posting hopefully with some good musings. Actually Sue, come to think of it, I was wondering where you were. I knew you weren't out having a sly one for sure. I had better start reading. First of all. On to the normal stuff. It is a new week and therefore a new thread. Just like always, it is named. This weeks thread is named 'Beach Week'. Yes it really is only 2 days!!! until I hit the beach. In case you stand around welcoming me and I don't turn up as expected, check the shoreline for something resembling Kelly's seal looking thing but with headphones on :) Musing time ... A few kind words and I have been inspired again, and it has last quite a few days this time around. Especially about the brain not yet being able to create feelgood chemicals on its own yet and is still waiting for nicotine or another artificial stimulant, hence why rewards are important. I hope I got that right because... ...I seem to have downloaded more tunes this week than a normal record store gets in on a daily basis! I have been in the process of turning smokefree90 playlist into beach playlist, which is something a lot larger. A lot of time and devotion goes into this and for periods of time I have not had a junkie thought! For me it is all about getting the right balance. There will be two playlists, one rock orientated and the other electronic orientated. Balance is key. My playlists can be on the heavy side on both categories (for instance, heavy metal and deep stark techno) so have been purchasing some lighter stuff, for the electronic stuff, something with more vocals but not too cheesy. It is like fine tuning a racing car for me. You don't want to get a super fast engine and then stick some fluffy dice over the mirror with some beaded mats on the chairs. Anyway, mentally, I have been making my promise to you, even though I haven't been around. But as I am here today, I would like to make some promises. I promise to my friends here at the SSC that I will not smoke, today, Friday or Saturday. So long story short, I am throwing kitchen sink #1050 at this quit because I know how important it is to me. I've even been having as many patchouli baths as time will allow (when I am not at work - as that would shock my colleagues :) ). Yesterday, I worked from home and when for a power walk as that always helps to grind any junkie thoughts down to dust for a while. It was also a chance to test drive my playlists to see what more it needed to give the right balance. I'm doing everything within my power to make the beach and will deal with the guilt feelings (of spending so much on music) later. I decided not to review whether I can still do it at 100 days but wait until day 120 instead and hope I make it that far. Delaying tactics? Yes for sure. This means hopefully you won't see any 'Am I really worth it/strong enough to do this quitting malarky' questions for 22 days (from now). I'll check back as soon as I have found some more chilled vocal selections. Currently wondering if Cocteau Twins can count as electronic :) Love you lots (thanks for checking on me) HUGS from Kev Mmmmmwwwwhhaaa (long distance kiss) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 98 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,450 Amount Saved: 411.60 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 6 Mins: 25 Seconds: 59
