Oh yes, the tricks the nicodemon plays on us is evil! It tries everything in the book to keep us smoking. I promise, not everyone out there smokes, and in time, you will find that when your driving past someone smoking, your going to feel sorry for them. I think this a little trick (the first of many) that our old friend nicotine is playing on us. There are smokers everywhere, today, but we are not one of them. This is my second day, and so far so good! I will not smoke again. Congrats on starting this new quit! I think it is the same thing when you try to eat healthy - temptations abound :) When you see those people smoking, try to picture what they are really doing - inhaling thousands of toxic chemicals, feeding their addiction and slowly killing themselves. Also think of what you are doing every time you choose NOT to smoke - adding to your life, letting your body heal, saving money and giving yourself just a bit more freedom with each smoke not smoked! You are taking back your life and those people are ending theirs! Kind of takes the romance out of it, huh? If the next couple of days are tough for you, try planning an end-of-the-day reward. A hot bath, a movie, a nice dinner, anything to look forward to that can add an extra bit of motivation. You are doing great and let us know how we can help :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1166 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 23,320 Amount Saved: $5,247.00 Life Gained: Days: 89 Hrs: 0 Mins: 38 Seconds: 17

I am not new to this, so I ask the question, is it me or does it seem that on the very day you try to quit smoking, everyone, and I mean everyone around you is smoking? It is as if those people are the real life figures of all of the voices in your head that tell you to smoke. I was driving to work and I promise, cross my heart, the car in front of me, behind me, and beside me were all smokers!!! Please, I need some confirmation that I am not losing it and that at least one other person has experienced this. I'm okay, my worse craving was walking to work from the parking garage and smelling the smoke, other than that, cravings have been mild. But, I am used to this on the first day (I've tried this 4 other times), it is the second, third days that are real hard because the nicotine starts leaving the body, completely! Thanks for listening and affording me the opportunity to just vent! I feel great and much different this time, I KNOW that I will do this, nothing will stop me! HAVE A GREAT MONDAY!
