Danno, The smoke you use to inhale paralyzed the cilia in your lungs. Cilia are small hairs that line your lungs and clean them. Now that you've started to cut back, your cilia are starting to move again and clean out your lungs. The result? a productive cough. As for the dizziness, this is due to more oxygen getting through to your brain. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

:) Hey Danno! I've tried to quit before (and am trying again). Sounds like you're going through the normal stuff. Coughing, I believe, is caused by your cilia growing back. They are little hair-like things in your trachea that help clean bad stuff out. Dizziness is pretty common too. Anyway, congrats on your progress so far! It seems like you are making great strides! I've added you to my SSC messenger buddy list so if you need any support, jump online and send me a note. Good luck!

Well, my bedroom ceiling looks alot better! I still think I'll slap a fresh coat of paint on it tomorrow. I opened a pack early this morning, and still have 8 left! GO ME! LOL! Normally i would have been on my third pack by now. Something else I've noticed today.....normally, I'm not a cougher. I hack a few times in the morning and thats it for the day. But today I've been coughing much more, and {not to be gross,] getting stuff up. I guess my body is already trying to heal I would assume? Clean my lungs out, ect.? Been alittle dizzy this afternoon, but I think thats because I'm getting air! LOL! Anyone else get the dizzy's? Thanks all!

Yes, Dan it IS exciting. A major accomplishment. 14 days feels fantastic! But, you can tell me that in a couple weeks yourself. ;p I have tried changing brands before quitting previously with the hope of making smoking less enjoyable. It may work for some but, for me, it just made me want to "enjoy" smoking even more. This time I did pretty much what you are doing. I set a date and for the week before I worked through the program here and made myself very aware of my smoking while cutting down each day the number of cigarettes I smoked. I also delayed cigarettes that I smoked at routine times like after meals, in the mornings, etc. I stopped smoking in the house and car completely as well. Like I said, basically what you are doing. That method worked well for me and although I dealt with the physical and mental withdrawls, the previous week showed me how much strenght I had to beat my addiction. I wouldn't say that I've had a terrible time or a terrible struggle. The first week (5 days) in particular was a struggle but it was manageable. I can tell you really want this and I believe you will be successful. Good for you! It's a wonderful feeling! Yay, Dan!!! I've seen where some people switched brands before they quit to make the cigs less appealing. Did that help anyone here? Just curious! Thanks for the input everyone! Dan
