Xena, that's what the junkie in your head wants you to think. The fact is that smoking does not reduce ot eliminate stress. You know that, you just have to tell the junkie.
If you feel stressed out, step back from the situation, think about something else until you're ready to tackle the stressful problem in a calm, logical way. Get outside for a short walk & some fresh air, have some cold water, distract yourself. Just like you used to do when you were smoking.
It was never the smoking that helped with the sress, it was all the rituals involved with the smoking.
