Xena Here is the secret to this...I understand that your life is stressful and that smoking appears to be a way of releiving some of the stress. BUT the fact is that stress is us responding to needs...We NEED to get this done, or we NEED to get that accomplished, or we NEED to be in a certain place at a certain time...This is all very real and a part of our lives...However, the secret is that smoking does not diminish the sress caused by having so many NEEDS in our lives. No in point of fact smoking adds to our stress by creating another NEED...That is the NEED to smoke. The act of smoking does not reduce the stress created by all of the other NEEDS in our lives, it becomes another NEED and due to the addictive nature of nicotine a NEED that will not be put off...So in the end this idea that smoking relieves stress is a part of the addictive trap that we have all fallen into. The fact is that when you quit, you will have reduced the stress in your life by many fold...Remember, as soon as you take a drag of a cigarette, you are starting the clock...As the nicotine goes through its half life, the clock ticks down and down and down, until it is zero hour again and then you NEED to smoke...This means that you will drop all of the other NEEDS and run to the alter of the tobacco industry to do your hourly tribute...End the addiction and you will have destressed your life in an amazing way... Good Luck to you... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 285 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,550 Amount Saved: $2,992.50 Life Gained: Days: 52 Hrs: 0 Mins: 29 Seconds: 32

Welcome back, Zena! I guess it would be good to review what worked before and get prepared for this time. Also, to have some strategies in place for when you face a stressful situation. Because a cig will NOT change the situation, it will just momentarily distract you from dealing with it. Hi Exena! If you quit for eight months Exena, you must have noticed how much more calm you were without the smokes! I used to think that way too, but I really notice now how much calmer I am, less irritable, and less shakey. You know the ropes then? Do the program to refresh and read all you can. Start planning your strategies for when the stress shows up and you 'll be ready! Don't be nervous, be excited, you can do this! We will help you! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 215 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,375 Amount Saved: $2,268.25 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 5 Mins: 32 Seconds: 37

Hi Xena, welcome back, if you want this you will do it, I think we all felt like the smokes calmed us down and used them to handle our stress, but if you stay off of them you really will learn to deal with stress without them, dont be nervous, just jump in , stay strong, stay here let us help , lots of fun people here. Say to yourself ( Others have done this before me, I can to :) Tresa My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1885 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 37,700 Amount Saved: $6,597.50 Life Gained: Days: 265 Hrs: 17 Mins: 28 Seconds: 29

I'm going to quit tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous about it as i quit 2 years ago for 8 months and know what it will like. My life is stressful and i have always used smokes to calm myself down. That is what worries me the most. But I want to do it. i came here 2 years ago, and think that it was the number one reason I was able to quit. I want to quit for good this time. I'm nervous. But i want it. I don't want to put on weight this time. Xena
