Clarification: I don't agree with sardines under any circumstances. Not sure about the cookie either given my current waistline but maybe a nice healthy carrot. :) and I almost forgot... I promise I will not smoke today! Hey Kev, So, I wrote out a whole lecture, encouragement, validation... for you and decided to delete it. Blah, blah, blah, you don't need me to tell you what you (should) already know. Come on! 80 days is freakin' stellar! Everything written to you here should be proof enough to you that not only are you not tiresome but you are totally "worth it"! I especially agree with what Penguin has written. I hope you have an awesome Sunday and that you treat yourself well in honor of those fabulous 80 days! Be proud, Kev. You are great! How's that playlist coming? ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 36 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,080 Amount Saved: $210.60 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 5 Mins: 3 Seconds: 44

Kev, what are you doing? You don't smoke anymore mate. Have you read Harry Potter? I think you need a good read along with your bath and aroma therapy, a little escape as it were. Hey I thought about you this morning, John made me poached eggs with soldiers and sausage. Reminded me of an english breakfast and that is when I thought about you!!! Relax Kev, you are just fine. DON'T MAKE ME COME OVER THERE :eg: XO Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 149 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,490 Amount Saved: $260.75 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 5 Mins: 25 Seconds: 55

Kev What the heck are you talking about?????? "Nobody should have to talk a quitter like me down from the ledge every morning" What do you think we are all here for???? Sheesh.....support and be supported...it continually goes both ways. You think that because you are again going through a junkie thinking phase that it won't pass and it will be like this every day? Please look back at some of your more recent threads to remind yourself that there will be days when smoking is just a passing thought and you actually enjoy life. My guess is the return to work and your quit buddy's relapse have triggered something. How about spending some energy on countering those specific junkie thoughts rather than writing apology letters? Although i bet some of the content in them would fit nicely into "Weirdest or Oddest Junkie Thoughts", and you know I love that thread. Or click your little red shoes three times. (my smiley clicker is broken) It will pass, Kev...remember that. Until then, shout loudly when you're on the ledge, okay????? I promise I will not smoke today -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 191 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,640 Amount Saved: $1,298.80 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 16 Mins: 55 Seconds: 1

JDK, Kudos on a job well done this week! You could have smoked but didn't. It sounds like you're on your way to developing some great coping strategies! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Kev, I promsie I will not smoke today. I also will not eat any sardines. How about a cookie? You have as much chance as anyone of staying smoke-free, Kev. You've done it for 79 days. All you have to so is keep doing that, that's how it gets done. You have fought hard for those days, & you have done your share of helping others along the way. You are most definitely worth it and I never want you to think otherwise, not for one second. No plan is stupid if it keeps you from smoking. The staying naked idea is not that different than my taking a bath. I do it because I won't go to the store naked or with my hair wet. The idea is by the time I get out of the bath, dry my hair & get dressed, the junkie will have given up. It works. You are a valued member of our community, Kev, and there is not one person who wouldn't be happy to help you if you asked for help, so get that "crying wolf" nonsense out of your head right now. Think, soul-search, write & post all you want. Nobody ever got cancer & died from any of that. Just don't smoke. Well Kev, I can see you are in the same space I was last weekend. What worked for me? I PROMISE KEV, I WILL NOT SMOKE TODAY. Ok, now you! The hair dryer thing just won't work, by the way. I've tried something of a similiar vain, only it was the heating vent in the house. They just end up cracking, and are still completely unsmokeable! Stop making love to the cigarettes in your mind. They are liars and you will end up feeling very cheated. Instead, here's a sardine...they always make me feel better. Cigarettes Not Smoked

So this week saw me write a 2 page apology to mum straight from my junkie on Monday night, as I thought I was going to smoke..and then didn't smoke...and every day I have written an apology in advance to all my SSC friends (in person) and then deleted it every day as I didn't smoke. Yesterday I spent last night trying to explain to my day why I might smoke (and failed big style) and so wanted to smoke that I thought I was going to leave the chair and go straight up to the shops...but still didn't smoke. This morning I am the same way and still haven't smoked. I am currently writing a note to my dad as to what I meant to say so I can edit out any junkie thoughts first hand. I do a lot of thinking and soul searching, especially at the weekend. Coming up with stupid plans like staying naked so that I would get arrested before I got to the shops to buy cigarettes :) Reminding myself about the story of the boy that cried wolf and putting it directly in context to here. Nobody should have to talk a quitter like me down from the ledge every morning. I imagine it can be tiring. I am going to give up bytespace to the quitters here who are actually worth it. Some of these definitely have chance of being smokefree for the rest of their lives. Right enough from me for now. I'll go for another fast walk inbetween the bad weather to kick this junkie into touch. Then I shall start searching my music collection for an new playlist for Kelly and then off to brave the shops. p.s. Unhooked. Lucky your junkie didn't think about using the hairdryer to dry out those drowned cigarettes. My junkie did for you at 1am. Ah yes, I think maybe more sleep tonight might help. And then to work on that positive attitude again. If I click my little red shoes three times ... :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 79 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,975 Amount Saved: 331.80 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 22 Mins: 7 Seconds: 3

Hi Kelly, Someone looks happy in your picture! Patchouli bubble bath perhaps? :) My one... well I guess it may be one of those mystical pictures! Like Sparky's cat collection, theres quite a few more of them that I have. My next avatar is really bright and happy. Theres a music list in the last thread somewhere Kelly! :) I am sure there will be more lists on their way. Lets just say that I will be thinking of a stellar kelly list :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 77 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,925 Amount Saved: 323.40 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 16 Mins: 42 Seconds: 29

Hi Kev, I'm with Gen - can't seem to figure out what that is? How's that music list coming? I'm looking forward to checking out something new. Sorry to hear about your quit buddy. If it's any consolation, they say every failed attempt brings you closer to success. I also read somewhere that, on average, a person has seven failed attempts before quitting for good. Also, I promise not to smoke today. I love that. It's just perfect.
