ttin, Always check with your pharmacist and doctor if you are experiencing side effects. Start using some coping mechanisms, you can't sit on your hands forever! Make a list of activities, chores, hobbies and odd jobs. This will help keep you busy and away from those craves. Make a crave basket (best idea ever!) filled with lots of coping mechanisms that you can pick up whenever you need to. Keep strong and celebrate those 12 days! Josie, Support Specialist

ttin, I'm just like you, a new non-smoker, I've been here before, just like you, I've tried quitting before, just like you. You know what I have learned from my previous attempts to quit. I cannot be around cigs. I can't hold a pack in my hand. I can't be around smokers, I avoid friends that are smoker's. I even avoid paying for gas inside of the gas station, because the temptation and the habit is still to strong. You need to take those cigs, dump them in the toilet, sit on your bed and cry if you have to, then take a nap and forget about the pack. You have to be a little stronger than the craving...you can do it!!!!! How ya doin' ttin? You know, if you can't wear the patch and you're not ready to be off the NRT, what about using the gum? Please at least give another NRT a shot before you smoke, k? You can do this. You've been doing it for almost two weeks! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 38 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,140 Amount Saved: $222.30 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 10 Mins: 9 Seconds: 57

ttin, scissors. Cut them up! That way you cannot smoke them. Remember you're doing this quit quilt and can't do it if you're smoking! Anyway you wouldn't want to burn a hole in it. Hang tough ttin. My hand is out there. come on ttin YOU dont want to smoke...you're a nonsmoker. It's just that addicted part of your brain wanting to get you all sick again. Get back to the basics as Sparky said. Breathe deep, drink some yummy ice cold water, take a shower, go for a walk in the beautiful morning, smell what's around you. How did you get those smokes, anyways? Okay you had to take your patch off. Breath, gets some water and drink it. Now where did that pack come from? Get rid of it now!! Run it under water and soak the hell out of it. Breath, drink some water, read old post, go for a long walk, do some self talk, remind yourself why you want to quit. You have 12 days!!! Yes it is hard but you can do this. GET RID OF THE PACK NOW!!!! Hold on you (we) will do this. You have to want this quit more than that pack, understand? DO NOT SMOKE, BREATH, DRINK WATER, WALK, SCREAM, HUG YOURSELF!!! Keep the Quit Sparky My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 155 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,550 Amount Saved: $465.00 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 21 Mins: 2 Seconds: 17

I had to take off my patch as it is giving me a horrible headache. Now I've got this rediculous, raging beast and a pack of smokes. I'm posting to keep from smoking.
