One more try, Have you tried using some thing to help your quit? maybe that is an avenue you should look into. When you really want to quit you will even with a smoker in the house, but you have to want it bad enough to win the battle we all know it is a hard fight. Good luck and hope to see you quit soon. One more try, Our biggest opponent is often ourselves. In order for your behavior to change, you have to start making that same change in your mind. Thought challenging is a good starting point. For example instead of "if you can't beat em, join em " try "it's like wearing underwear on your head - makes no sense " or some variation of this. :) Changing negatives into a positives are also another strategy. I miss smoking but I've gained... and I don't miss... Lastly, practice makes perfect. Work through the tools of the program, get your coping strategies together and start replacing and/or delaying cigarettes with them. Stop smoking in certain places like the house, the car... start adjusting to your life without cigarettes. As for the weight loss, it's your choice. If this is really an issue you struggle with during your last quit, again start working on the problem and changing the negative thinking that goes along with it. Hope this was of help to you. For anyone who remembers me, I have to confess that I have started up again! I lasted about two weeks this time. I have set my new quit date for December 1 when I will try again. Not sure why I am waiting so long, except that I think I need to spend more time preparing myself. I simply am not ready right now, even though I desperately want to give up this filthy habit! Please, if anyone has any advise, let me know. My main problem is that my husband is a smoker and is showing no signs of wanting to quit anytime soon. I have always said that I will quit when he quits. But now I am getting tired of waiting for him. But yet it's so hard to not smoke when I know he is smoking. Even though he goes outside or in the garage (we don't smoke in the house, or in our vehicle). I don't have to be around it...but just knowing that he is smoking is enough to drive me nuts. I start thinking 'if you can't beat em, join em'. I know this is wrong. Oh, and if you do remember me, you might remember how I claimed the first three months are a breeze. Ha! It was the last time I quit (about a year ago). This time something happened and it was too hard. Oh, and last year when I tried to quit I gained about 15 pounds! I am still trying to take that off, and thinking maybe I should lose the weight before trying to quit again, otherwise I might gain another 15 and be 30 pounds overweight!! So, should I try to lose weight and quit smoking at the same time? The extra weight is proving to be quite the challenge too. I have been trying to lose since January. Should I take the weight off first or quit smoking? Right now I just don't know. I am hopeless!
