Bears wear pyjama's? OK, can I have a glass of wine & the flashlight, please? Thanks.
One cold, clear night last winter, my kids (who believed that I was still quit from some months earlier) were due to be dropped off by their dad in about 1/2 hour. Knowing I had lots of time to brush my teeth & wash my hands, I bundled up in my "stinky" jacket, the one I always smoked in, grabbed a smoke & lighter & stepped out on the deck. I lit up & was standing there smoking and shivering, looking at the stars when suddenly I was startled by the door behind me sliding open!
I whirled around, cigarette in hand, & came face to face with my daughter's horrified expression! She said not a word, but as her face fell and that horror turmed to disappointment, I was very, very afraid that this time she would not forgive me!
She shook her head, turned away and went straight to her room, where she stayed for the rest of the night. Her brother kept me company downstairs that evening but would not speak to me other than when spoken to, for several days.
It was a scary, scary thing for me to have to admit to them that I had been lying for months and was, indeed, still smoking!
