What a guy you have there, tam! Bet you hardly ever want to bash him with a skillet! Right now, it's important to protect your quit & it's awesome that you & your friend recognize how important that is! There will come a time when you can go to a party, have a few drinks and not want to smoke. If that time is not now, then good for you for realizing that & making the right choice! We're all proud of you & rather than be pissed, you should be proud of you, too! Lainey, Take any chance you can get to have the remote! lol. My hubby knows he scored big on the brownie points when he saw the smile on my face! As far as going out tonight, I just wouldn't trust myself period right now. I'm lucky that the girl that is getting married understands my situation and isn't really upset with me for not going. She is a nurse and has been bugging me to quit smoking. She sees first hand the horror that smoking does to a body. Hey Tam! That sucks that you aren't going to the stagette. Do you think you could go and not drink at all? Sometimes those are very educational nights.... On the other hand, Hubby was very thoughtful bringing home a DQ cake! thats worth a good couple hundred brownie points. (bet he's hoping so too) Boy, you and Penquin, those Manitoba husbands are impressing me! (I have a Hubby free weekend, he's gone to his annual "Freeze your butt off golf tournament at Waskesui") So I get the remote all weekend! Not much of a hooray for that. But it is nice & quiet here! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 193 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,825 Amount Saved: $2,036.15 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 15 Mins: 43 Seconds: 49

Thank you Sue :) I did read the post by Joe Cool. 21 years old, couldn't even imagine. My husband knew I wouldn't be going out tonight, so he brought home a dairy queen ice cream cake with a "no smoking sign" and the word congrats on it. So, that will be my treat :), errr not the WHOLE thing, just a piece lol. Even though he has no clue what being an addict is like , he is trying his hardest to be supportive of me. I am so proud of you!!! There will come a day when you can go and enjoy yourself and be smoke free at the same time. It is not easy in the beginning and for you to understand that and make the choice you did is hugh. Every time you can do that you are getting stronger and the monster is getting weaker. You go girl!! I hear ya Tam. There are a few situations I still don't trust myself in and won't put myself in. there is this Joe Cool thread on here, take a peak at it. For alot of members here it is a somber reminder of why we are here. For me it is Fred. I hope you are having a little celebration there for yourself, maybe some chocolate? wine? cheese? Those are a few of my favs. I think you made an excellent choice :) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 134 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,340 Amount Saved: $234.50 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 19 Mins: 14 Seconds: 4

Tonight I am suppose to go to a stagette. Have a few drinks, hang out with the girls and celebrate that one of us is getting married. I don't get out much. With a husband, kids and a full time job, I never have time for myself. Anyways, I'm not going and I am SO pissed about it. The reason I am not going out and celebrating? You guessed it, because of nicotine. I do not trust myself not to smoke. It's only been 2 weeks of not smoking. Compare that to 20 years of smoking, I have an uphill battle without going out to a party. Ugh, it is so frustrating. I am SO angry that I can't enjoy a night out with friends because of my addiction. Hopefully in the future I will be able to enjoy a night out on the town and not be scared to death of having a drag of a smoke. GGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
