That's awesome news, penguin! For both you and your dad. I remember when you told us your dad had quit & you were so happy for him! It's really great to see your determination back! Of course you can do it, silly penguin. What have you been doing for 66 days??? I am feeling much relieved! Not that my pain has disappeared. It is still aggravating me. Some hours I deal with it better than others. But I am relieved because I feel like I have gotten through the most difficult period smoke-free and maybe I can give myself a little mental break in that regard. Also, I got some really fantastic news yesterday. My father, whom I thought had relapsed, because he stopped talking about it, is still smoke free after 4 months. I am simply amazed. After reading the Easy Way, he put the smokes down after some 60 years, and hasn't looked back. He gets a 'slight pang' every now and again, he say. I feel like such a wimp now when I think that a man who's every waking moment had a cigarette smoking beside him, and he just quit....that's it....over. So now I feel, like maybe I don't feel so bad as I thought I did. If he can do, darnit....so can I...and will. Checking on you Penguin. I think that once you get back into your usual routine you will be fine. Being stuck in the house after surgery can't be all that much fun! Be strong! glad that things are a little better penquin. You do not want to jump back on the nicotine merry go round...smoke, don't smoke, smoke, don't smoke...it is like slow torture. You survived and came out victorious. Here's to the day when we do not give smoking one thought! good job! new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 114 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,736 Amount Saved: $570.00 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 18 Mins: 8 Seconds: 31

So sorry I missed this, penguin! Big hug to you for getting through it! You just take care of you right now. This is prime junkie time & you know that. You also know that smoking will not change anything except your quit meter. In fact smoking actually SLOWS the healing process (as you well know,) so if you're frustrated with your progress, that would be completely illogical. Healing will take as long as it takes, be patient with yourself, because rushing it now will only make problems down the road. You know that, too. Come here often, you know we're here for you, you know where to find us in the real world & you know you can do it.
