It is all about Attitude Momma, and I think yours is just fine. My faith carries me around everyday, I bet yours does also - keep quitting and you will be just fine. -hugs sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 133 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,330 Amount Saved: $232.75 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 16 Mins: 54 Seconds: 49

Mamma, You may just surprised those doctors. It is amazing how the body can heal and turn itself around when given a chance. Don't cut your body's chance short to show you what it can do. It takes some times to feel and notice the difference. BUT....OH MY....IS IT EVER WORTH IT. I can't wait to see your post in the furture when you write how great you are feeling!! You are doing so wonderful. I PROMISE you....it WILL get much easier soon. Hey MammaD! Keep this in mind, quitting smoking 'Is' going to help with your asthma, it 'is' going to help with COPD, it 'is' going to help with your diabetes. You are going to feel so much better and very soon! We know this because quitting has helped others. Now focus on how wonderful that is going to feel instead of worrying about what if's. You can do this, we have done it and we will help you! Just remember NOPE! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 192 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,800 Amount Saved: $2,025.60 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 12 Mins: 16 Seconds: 0

Oh MmmaD, Your post made me laugh and cry. Sounds like how I was the first month or two. I had quite the vocal argument going with myself. When the cravings or urges got strong, it would go something like this; Addict me(AM): "I want a cigarette" Non smoker me (NSM): "Of course I want a cigarette. I always want a cigarette, especially after work (while cooking, taking a break, etc, etc, you name it). But am I going to have one? NO!" AM: "Why?" NSM: "Because I'm a nonsmoker, that's why! And nonsmokers do not smoke!! Ever!!!! Ever!!!! Ever!!!!! That's why!!! AM: "Just one? A puff?" NSM: "NO!!!!! Because I do not smoke!!!!!!! Period!" And I repeated this as needed...sometimes 4-5 times a day. I'd end up laughing, because it was so ridiculous. Also, like you Mamma, this quitting smoking has made me realize how much I value life. You can't reverse the decisions you made before, all you can do is work hard to improve your health now, and not smoking is a really good step in that direction. My mom is turning 90 next week, and she has had a pacemaker for about 25-30 years, and is still going strong. It is scary to face surgery of any kind, but many people go on to live more enjoyble lives afterwards when the problem is fixed. Let us know when your surgery is, and we will be here to support you. You're almost through the hardest week. Hang in there a little bit more, and plan a reward for yourself. And, as unhooked says, shout Woo Hoo! You can't feel bad when you're doing that....lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 175 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,000 Amount Saved: $1,190.00 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 11 Mins: 20 Seconds: 36

That is tough mamma, but as long as you continue NOT smoking things will ONLY get better from here. Just keep on reminding yourself how much healthier you are getting, day by day and minute by minute, by not smoking. Do not let that nasty ole nicodemon back into your lungs. He is NOT your friend; he is there to hurt you. So just keep up that good fight and continue not smoking... you will be happier with this decision. cheers My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 336 Amount Saved: $67.20 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 1 Mins: 54 Seconds: 46

These are the rough days and I'm getting through them first of all by saying that I am now a non smoker and think about those I know that do not smoke and imagine what they would do in same situation. We all have issues to deal with and I am trying to learn to deal with them without that darn smoke. So far it has worked but I talk allot to myself and scream and growl (outloud..lol) I walk around the house or go outside and take in air, drink some water. I have major health issues that smoking will kill me much sooner. I have Diab, copd, asthma, had heart bypass and will soon have to have a defibillater placed in. Needles to say why even bother seeing my docs and having this proceedure if I continue to smoke. I will admit here and I have not revealed this to my family and I generally share ALL my feelings; that I am scared silly that I am going to die soon and I AINT READY...BIG BIG BREATH ON THAT STATEMENT.I am willing and I am trying to change the things that I do have control of and get the most that can that life will offer. Kinda down today. Thanks for listening and giving me a place to vent.
