Planning & Afraid

Hi Keliza, I think everyone felt the way you did. We get hung up on failing, and forget we can succeed :) Just take it one day at a time, if that's too much half a day, even an hour. You can do this. Its hard :gasp: What else is new. Life is. Just keep saying and believing you can do this. We are all there behind you and before you. Keep in contact. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/19/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,000 Amount Saved: $200.00 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 23 Mins: 37 Seconds: 55

Keliza - welcome! If nothing else, I will always be honest. Honestly, I cried like a little baby when I had my last smoke. Not just a little sad, nope - seriously cried! (That was AFTER I lit the wrong end first!) Yep, I was afraid - of what, I have no idea. In th end, like everything else in life, the fear was way worse that the doing. Be happy - it is such a GREAT feeling to be a non-smoker. Besides, you get to party with us! Hope to see you lots! Hi Keliza! Sounds like your doing great too! Thinking about it is a very important step! I'm considering the patch myself. I'm stocking up on gum as well, and little hard candies. I can walk those little suckers off! LOL! Keep it up...we CAN do this!

Keliza, Oh yes I was so very scared about quitting, set a date three mo. down the road the closer it got the more scared I got, changed my quit date twice, then one day I chose the date, my youngest grandson's birthday, March 27th, stuck to it and it wasnt near as horriable as I had imagined, to me the getting ready to do it is the scariest part. and I know there are so many out there who feel the same, have gone through the same. Much luck to you hugs, prayers, pixie dust, Bobbi My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/27/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 167 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,010 Amount Saved: $417.50 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 13 Mins: 26 Seconds: 36

Danno - you are doing awesome! Me - well I'm thinking about it (quitting) all the time. 6 days to go. I bought lots of gum & the nic patch yesterday (it's worked for me before so I'll do it again). My oldest knows & just said "excellent". No eye rolling! Maybe that's all in my own little head. I ran yesterday and hiked on Saturday. Although I didn't make 10 minutes, 4 times (which is the schedule) I did make 10 twice then 6, 8 & 2. A little at a time & I'll be doing 10K by Christmas. My lungs are gonna feel soooo good! Thanks for support folks. I'll keep you posted. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi Keliza! I hope your doing well today? How is it going for you? For me the cravings really hit in the morning, but then lighten up as the day goes on. Just keep your mind occupied and stay strong! I myself use a kitchen Timer. I started by setting it for 1/2 hour at a time. When it rang i would smoke. Then went to 45 minutes at a time. Sometimes I don't even light up...i just reset the timer. Makes it easy for me to keep tabs, and has really helped me cut the number of cigs I smoke in a day. I now have it set for hourly, and then decide if i want to smoke, or go for another hour. Might not work for everyone, but sure has helped me keep track! LOL! Let me know if I can help you in your journey!

Thank you all so much for your support. I've never had so many people (total strangers) be beside me like this. I'm not a chat room/facebook kind of person so this is something new & quite cool. I've avoided telling my family because I think they'll likely just roll their eyes and say "yeah right - I'll believe it when I see it". I tried & failed too many times before. So, I will prove it to them. I've never heard of Allen Carr but will search out his book & read it. Today I will start cutting back in preparation for "the day" and now realize (thanks to all of you) that it's the nic-junkie that's talking when I'm feeling this fear. I feel much more confident now and will just tell ol'nic to shut the heck up! Many thanks all!!
