Wow... I just read this and it's a real eye opener. My gums are in some trouble, but occasional bleeding has stopped since I started my quit seriously. Lots to be thankful for. Hang in there stickin. Bone density loss due to smoking is very real. For me I use to be 6'3" when I was 22 years old. Now I am 5' 11" that seems to be 4 inches lost not with standing natural old age and compression. I had several teeth break off right at gum line what a shock. I have managed with my Docs help to at least check it. I take a lot of calcium and vitamins and the biggest thing is not smoking. Hope your pain eases and use the meds they wont kill yoo. I'm up, on my feet! Hi Stef Your situation sounds better than mine ;). It doesn't hurt and you will be fine. I was in the chair for an hour and a half yesterday, more boring though. Let me know what you find out. ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/22/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 580 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,440 Amount Saved: $3,190.00 Life Gained: Days: 105 Hrs: 19 Mins: 14 Seconds: 58

Hi Stickin to it, I just had an appointement with my dentist because i was concern with my gums. She said i had a common problem and it can be solved with surgery. However, she blaimed the problem on the fact that i had braces when i was younger. She did'nt ask me if i smoked and i did'nt tell her i used to smoke. I guess it just gives me another good reason to quit smoking. I'm waiting to se a Periodontist for a consultation. Does the surgery hurt ????? I'm afraid of dentist...just don't like it at all!!! :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 54 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 540 Amount Saved: $216.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 21 Mins: 41 Seconds: 46
