Bear, This is the classic smoking addiction paradox. Smoking is the CAUSE of the pain in the first place. Smoking puts nicotene into your body and then 5 minutes later, you start to get withdrawal. The pleasure is an illusion. The 'pleasure' (the feeling relaxed and focused and enjoying things) is what non-smokers feel all the time as normal. Smokers can find it hard to win the mental battle until they 'get this.' Smokers feel withdrawal symptoms all day, every day. Non-smokers obviously don't have any withdrawal.....and Quitters have symptoms a few times a day. There is the irony - smokers have more withdrawal symptoms than quitters! I'm with the quitters! :8|: Lizzie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/23/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1583 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 23,745 Amount Saved: 5,936.25 Life Gained: Days: 158 Hrs: 7 Mins: 53 Seconds: 7

Pleasure & Pain Can't have one without the other ! Pleasure we embrace pain we abhore but it is the balance between the two that makes us human. But what kind of deal is this. The thing that took us out of our misery (smoking )and gave us pleasure is now the centre of our pain in quitting. :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 156 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,808 Amount Saved: $1,560.00 Life Gained: Days: 35 Hrs: 15 Mins: 22 Seconds: 52
