Oh boy, Greger Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you. But, also like you mean business. The quit tools are under How The Program Works. They really are helpful. As is this site and all the people who are so supportive. Good idea on the weekend to start out with. That's what i did, too, and it helped. Do you remember the things that helped last time? I know drinking lots of water, resting, distracting yourself, exercise, and rewarding yourself often are all important, especially in the early days. Let us know how we can help, and please, post anytime you want or if you need help. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 146 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,840 Amount Saved: $992.80 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 9 Mins: 31 Seconds: 51

Congratulations on your decision to take your life back! Sounds like you have really thought this through. Yep! It sucks but it is worth it. One day at a time is all you have to get through. Five minutes when a day seems too long. Be sure to develop a plan for when the cravings hit. There is a great program to the left and the support on this site is awesome! I sucked on peppermint and drank a lot of ice water during the beginning of the quit. It helped me get through. Read, read, read, and post, post, post. Learn all you can about the addiction and refuse to give in again. You can do it! Cigarettes and Skoal. Separately and together. Constantly feeding the beast. My last quit was around 6 years ago and it failed when I started dipping to avoid going back to cigarettes. A year or so later a half-hearted attempt to stop dipping and the ensuing depression led me to buy my first pack of smokes after 3 years without. Worked great! Now I am addicted to both, they almost seem like separate addictions, separate habits anyway, each with its own "reward", one is a snack, the other, a feeding frenzy. My quit date is this coming Friday so that I may have time alone with no tobacco at hand for two days before facing reality and work, a bit of a head start, if you will. My initial plan was to stop just the cigarettes and continue dipping for a time until I could face complete cessation, this seemed counterproductive and headed straight for failure so the plan now is to just stop altogether and let the beast starve. I know I can do this and I'm prepared but I also know it's gonna really suck.
