Hi Tryagain, How are you holding up the last couple of days? Candy and gum can do a job on our teeth I lost a filling and a tooth. I read what Freemom said and she has a good point that maybe the gum was dragging out the quit and affecting the emotions. Hang in there just look how far you have come. Let us know how you are doing. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 154 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,080 Amount Saved: $1,001.00 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 17 Mins: 59 Seconds: 23

Hi Tryagain! Glad you are keeping the quit! As you can see by my icon, I live with suckers, but they are sugar free. I also have low fat mozzarella sticks - They help the hand to mouth fix alot. Hang tough! Hi Tryagain! Just wait and see - I bet that once you get all the Nic out of your system things will finally change for the better. :) I suspect drawn out low levels of nic in your bloodstream have actually been making this quit harder for you. I'm proud of you for taking the plunge! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 144 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,728 Amount Saved: $587.52 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 9 Mins: 50 Seconds: 39

Hi try again, Try putting a small stirring straw in your mouth; suck on it, chew on it, twist it..no sugar and satisfies that restless feeling to a degree. You can get a handful of them from a bartender in a restaurant or bar..the kind they put in drinks. Smoking is also terribly unhealthy for your gums..unhealthy gums, teeth fall out. I would try and ditch the gum and candy....really, try chewing on a straw. You can also go to the health food store and get licorice root and chew on that. It is like a tree twig, but tastes like licorice. Let me know and a BIG CONGRATULATIONS on being neekid!!! I will be facing this next week also..no more lozenges.Hang tough new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 85 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,040 Amount Saved: $425.00 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 16 Mins: 53 Seconds: 28

Tryagain, say it with me "i t ' s a l l i n t h e m in d". It takes 3 days to rid nicotine from your system + 3 weeks of nicotine withdrawl, although this may be less due to NRT. How does it feel to be 3 weeks & 3 days away from complete freedom ! That's the problem with hard candies and gum, even sugarless. No good for teeth. Perhaps a different kind of replacement: grapes, crackers and cheese, non-sugary stuff. Tryagain, Congratulations! Nicotine free! Remember, you're body will take a few days to adjust. Have you tried sugar free candy? Make no mistake, smoking chips away at the enamel and calcium of your teeth. Much better off not smoking. Hang in there. We are cheering you on! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist
