Help? Slipping Game...

Mamakitty - I am so sorry I didn't see this post yesterday. No matter what you decide to do with your meter, just don't give up. I am a truth 'til it hurts girl and think I would have to start my meter over to make myself realize the loss of my slip. How much more it hurts to see the loss of those days than it did to just not smoke. But I have heard others here say they would have to leave their meter alone becuase they think it would be too hard for them to restart it. The decision is a completely personal one. Just know we are all here to help you in any way we can. Hang in their mamakitty - try keeping the quit for babykitty. Helps me alot to think I am doing it my baby too, not just for me. Thanks for your honesty and for sharing with us. We are here to support and not judge. Take the time to prepare for those slip times and get back to the not one puff ever mode! Use your preparation skills to start you back in this journey and know that you can do this! Josie, Support Specialist

Just thought I would chime in here. In the post about the slipping game.... I stated that slipping has no place in a quit. If you are quit, you don't smoke and if you smoke, you are not quit. The reason I said that is because for about 2 years, I played the game of pretending to be quit and hiding my smoking from everyone. Trust me, it's no way to live. I would let the family go on adventures without me so I could smoke, making excuses I was sick, headache, whatever it took. I would up spending that two years pretty much in solitude because of my hiding with the smokes. They were more important than anything. I was a smoker wanting to be free but didn't know how. After being quit as long as I have now, I totally see the difference between really being quit and pretending to be quit. It's your meter and your life. What registers on your meter doesn't even matter. It is a tool for YOU and no one else. What does matter is that you quit playing games with yourself! One day at a time, not one puff ever, that is the only way to quit. Is it hard? Yep. Can you do it? Yep. Is it worth it? You better believe it!!! LMAO, you nutbars!! I think Mr. Ed will be fairly scandalized by this. He is after all, a decent & double speedo wearing horse! & with you 2 around, I don't blame him! I think the analogy of getting back on the pony (of quitting) sentence was just too close to the sentence where I complained a little about Chantix and less satisfying sex. No offense Mr. Ed:) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 59 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 885 Amount Saved: $236.00 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 4 Mins: 2 Seconds: 19

well, i'm not sure what sex is anymore, but I don't remember that it had to do with ponies, but maybe i'm wrong again. mk check out the bonfire thread...we just came up with a simple method for counteracting those "romanticizing smoking" self talk things My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 140 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,600 Amount Saved: $952.00 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 15 Mins: 14 Seconds: 55

That's right Unhooked:) and there are no ponies within miles... I'm so glad you're not disappointed. That gives me peaceful hope somehow. Well, mk, bad sex is better than no sex but I think I'd leave the pony out of it! PS I meant to say I can't say I'm NOT disappointed. You got that, right? Love you too alohakeia... Thanks for that post. I'll clean my slate and do my homework again. You ladies are so smart! Thanks for caring... I do too, but need to wrestle with this self talk issue big time. I need to build up my argument with myself so I don't feel like I'm wearing someone else's mask to cheerlead another team when I'm flailing around inside with my own. Some day I want to genuinely be able to give assurance and great support to others. It's hard to accept all this great stuff from you all, when I don't feel like I have much to return for non-smoking support right now.
