Hiya Greger :) Cool! Come join us August quitters in the new user former. Let yourself be known :) You've quit before so u know you can do it! It feels so friggin good to be smoke-free. We have nothing to lose & everything to gain. Sounds like you should stock up on gum and water? Well keep on keepin on & if u feel yourself giving in to the junkie make sure u come in here and post and wait for at least 5-10 replies and u also have to call a friend that's supportive of your quit. :) We gotta do whatever it takes to win this battle and we're all in here to help each other do just that :) Welcome aboard,,,choo choo, LOL. I have to go back to sleep, I get silly when I'm tired. KEEP THE DESIRE! Each day remember your desire to be smoke-free has to be stronger than your desire to smoke. I just try to remember how great it feels to be smoke-free & smell-free compared to the other and that helps me to fight off the junkie. Sometimes are harder than others but Ms. Lady and Ladybugg are only a call away. Find the IM in here also :) Just breathe......ahhhhhhhh My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 40 Amount Saved: $9.60 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 54 Seconds: 23

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Now a full 24 hours have passed and I give myself a gold star. I'm not so sure about pampering myself this weekend, seems like that's what I've been doing. Time to crack the whip and clean the gutters, take care of some landscaping ideas that have been avoided while I sat here and smoked. Don't fret though, I wont push myself too hard and will mix in a few cool showers and short naps. I'm really surprised the cravings aren't worse but I'm coming at it from a different direction this time, it seems that every time I quit before there was a cigarette somewhere in my future, if I could just abstain long enough then I could have one....the very thing I was trying to quit became the ultimate reward! Wrongo Gregorovich! I'll not imagine serving up a plate of failure as reward for success. The same logic applies to why I will not use replacement therapy this time. I would recommend it for beginner quitters, it helped me quit at least three times.

Greger Glad to hear today went so well, and that you have been paying attention to when you smoked. Now you won't be surprised when you have a little crave at those times. Remember to pamper yourself this weekend. I used food the first month or so, but mostly spoonfuls of nonfat yogurt and cottage cheese...ok, once in a while a spoonful of peanut butter ;), and i only gained 4 pounds. Lots of ice cold water seems to satisfy the urges. See ya tomorrow...or later tonight -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 148 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,920 Amount Saved: $1,006.40 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 17 Mins: 42 Seconds: 31

Greger, That spaced out feeling is actually due to carbon monoxide withdrawal. It's temporary and will likely last for a few days. Keep us posted. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist
