still thinking about it every day

I really wish I hadn't read this...200 days and still thinking of it everyday!! I was hoping I was getting close to forgetting about smoking all together, but I guess I was fooling myself. I feel for you stubborn, I know how it feels for every thought in your head to be related to a smoke. Stubbon, You just described me and my quit. Will it ever end? Yes, one day. When? I have no idea. I know that I struggle for about the first year. As time progressed, staying quit was easier but each time life threw something my way, I wanted to run to smoking again. I too felt I could light one up at any time. There are other also because I've talked to them. It's just part of the process. Some days are good some not so good. The desire does go away. When it returns now it's just momentarily and then the thought is gone again like it never happened. I love being a non-smoker but didn't think I would ever get to the part of the "comfortable" non-smoker. It just takes some of us a little longer than others. Don't forget the rewards, they are important. Hi Stubborn, I think many think about smoking even after six months. You have come a long, long way. Smoking thoughts gradually fade into the sunset. I still on occasion have a though but havent had a desire to light up. I guess I know that smoking is a momentary satisfaction, way too steep of a price to pay for such little satisfaction. I could not do that to myself, smoke that is. Besides when I think of smoking my lungs start bothering me even though I think my lungs are ok. I dont hate cigarettes, and I like you, did like smoking a lot. I have learned to live without them as you will also. Give it another three months. I would expect you to be feeling much better then. It takes sometime to work out all the emotion triggers that cause us to think about lighting up I think I remember at 10 months quit, I still would have daily smoking thought but mild. I cant remember that far back now. I hope some of my rambling helps out or answers some of your concerns. Let me know if you would like additional insight into what lies ahead. Hey Stubborn, I'm right there with ya with days quit. The thoughts come at me too and romantically flirt with me. It is the ADDICTION. Yes, we were slaves but now we fight for our freedom. Time to put up your dukes and protect your quit...junkie is flirting with you and wants you as its slave again! Thanks for posting. Smart move! Hope others will follow with wise advice. I recently passed 200 days without smoking. Only the first 100 were really hard. Since then I haven't even logged in here much because I am dealing with cravings pretty easily and the physical withdrawal is long gone. But I still think about smoking every day. Sometimes all day. I'm totally a non-smoker, but feel like I could go back to it in a second. Will this phase ever end? My initial reasons for quitting had to do with being a slave to it - not because I disliked it. Will I ever come to hate cigarettes? Because I don't think I do. I still seem to want them. And life would be easier if I hated them.
