trying The key is preparing for it. Maybe get a basket or bag of small rewards to give yourself instead of a cigarette break, like candies, gum, a favorite drink, crosswords, word finds, sodoku, beads. Take a quick walk to relieve some of the stress, and of course..post here : ) You CAN do this. You'll just have different triggers at work. Once you've faced them and not smoked, they will either get easier to deal with or disappear. Plan for a treat on the way home for not smoking -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 129 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,160 Amount Saved: $877.20 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 0 Mins: 11 Seconds: 13

Hello everyone, Thanks again for all of your fantastic support, its helping. Im pleased to say im still a non-smoker and am very proud and pleased with myself. After 25 years on more than 20 cigarettes per day I know this isnt going to be easy. Since I stopped smoking on 17th July I have been at home off work and away from the stresses of my usual working life. This has no doubt helped me a lot. Tomorrow I go back to work for the first time as a non-smoker and I am afraid things are going to get a bit harder. Im really glad that I found this website because its going to help me. I promise that I will post again after my first day back at work (whatever the outcome) and hope to say " I DID IT!" tryingtoquit. Hi Tryingtoquit Sounds like you are doing great so far. And learning how to deal with the urges...come here and post and read. I was glued to this site when i first quit and am still pretty much using it as a replacement for smoking. Many people make a promise to themselves or others that before taking one single puff they will post here and wait for a certain number of responses before lighting up. That has saved a lot of quits. Transitions from one activity to another are still triggers for me too. Now, tho, I just make note of them, like "Oh yeah, that's why I have an urge to smoke, I just came home from the store, I just got in the car, I just finished work, etc, etc. But of course, I'm not gonna smoke. Why? Because I'm a nonsmoker"...I am quite the self-talker...lol Looking forward to getting to know you -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 128 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,120 Amount Saved: $870.40 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 21 Mins: 59 Seconds: 6

Hi there, welcome to a site that will help you to change your life :) Quitting smoking is the 1st step. It's a daily decision to be a non-smoker. Just think of the great example you're setting for your kids & now you'll be around longer to enjoy them :) This site is full of knowledge & love from many wonderful people :) Take it one day at a time. Sometimes 1 min at a time. If u ever get to the point where u feel like giving up, make yourself call a friend or come to this site and start reading a posting for as long as it takes to get past that point. Feelings & cravings come & go & all u have to do know is learn how to deal with them. Just breathe.......
