On Day 2!

I'm sitting here reading all the posts I can and trying to get tired enough to sleep on the couch tonight and I find so many of these posts that stir up all kinds of emotions and I have to fight the urge not to cry! I hope this is the result of withdrawl and I'm not losing my mind. I read one by bear (I think?) asking if life would be watching out for another bad habit to lean on now that smoking isn't an option and here I am with a beer. It really hit hard. I poured it out because I know that I am doing exactly that - instead of smoking I grabbed alcohol. This is not a pattern I want to repeat, but gosh, talk about feeling ashamed. I hear ya Jessica, it sucks I know BUT it is worth it. This lastest for us 10 days, we were on vacation for 7 of them with my Mother - AHEM - who was visiting for 5 weeks in our small house from Australia. Yes, I am crazy. We didn't plan to quit while she was here, it just happened. It was sooooooooo bad. Something to make you laugh - on our way home from vacation maybe 2 weeks into our quit, we had picked up the cats, almost home, Mum is in the back with the cats in their carriers - Kyle, my oldest, very upset apparently poops in his carrier(It smells so BAD) right about the time we come upon road paving on the way to our house, and it is over 100 degrees - argggggggggggghhhhh, talk about stress. We had so many incidents over that 10 days that normally we would have gone through packs and packs of smokes. I don't think Mum is coming back anytime soon ;P I feel your pain, and I am telling you it will pass, the benefits are awesome. Awesome. You can smell again, taste, have more energy - it is all good. Maybe tell your hubby this is normal stuff from withdrawal and it will pass. It might help. Anyway, keep posting, we are here for you. Anna, that is the first time I have smiled and laughed all night - THANK YOU!!! I have no doubt that it would take up plenty of time if I attempted to gargle peanut butter!!!!!!......roflmao My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20 Amount Saved: $4.21 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 20 Seconds: 12

Habits are hard to break. That is what you are doing. Whenever there is tension, instead of picking up a cigarette, pick up something else. Suck on a mint, bite a pillow, go for a walk, gargle peanut butter....just don't smoke. Soon that habit will be replaced with your new one! Hang in there! Thanks Sue and everyone! Day 2 just got alot harder. I don't know if it's the anxiety of quitting or what but my husband and I have been at eachothers throats since he got home. He went to bed early and I went to lay with him but since I got a distinct impression I was not welcome I am now on here fighting the urge to grab any butt I can find and smoke it. How disgusting is that? I would normally grab my book and go out to the porch and read to ease the tension on my part, but since I always smoked then it was too much of a temptation earlier so I did the right thing and came back inside...lol I'm aware that I shouldn't be whining about my relationship on here, but hey - I've got to tell someone and strangers are easier to tell your story to sometimes so feel free to ignore the past few sentences...lol I am really trying here, I don't want to fail at this again but I do feel like I'm at the end of my rope at the moment. Yeah, I know, "This too shall pass." This is the way I see it, you can have a miserable quit, or a happy quit. The choice is yours! Wake up and decide everyday that you are going to be happy because you have made one of the best decisions you can ever make for yourself! You will do great if you choose to do so! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 218 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,270 Amount Saved: $915.60 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 6 Mins: 1 Seconds: 25

good for you Jessica! Me and hubby quit together also, so I get the snippyness....it was all his fault of course ;p Just remember you really love each other, don't smoke no matter what, find something to fill the time - you will notice extra time and comment probably, and don't smoke. Reach out if you need help okay? Great job Jessica, Your already creating the "new you". That's what it's all about. Not just giving up nicotine....but making a new person....a new non smoking person. Keep it up. Ok, so I'm on day 2. It hasn't been terrible, and my hubby is trying to quit also. I did notice that we were a bit snippy to eachother today but that's not too bad - I'm so proud of him for giving it another shot! (Last time he didn't do so well...lol) Well, I have had a few cravings today. I haven't smoked, don't plan on it, but I hadn't realized that even doing the dishes is a trigger! I used to finish them and go have a smoke (usually at least half the time) and now.... well I have to find something else to do I guess...lol I have a new ritual after my shower now. Besides doing the lotion, creme, mask, body spray, perfume thing I am putting on make-up. While this sounds like no big deal let me tell you - I never pamper myself and almost never wear make-up unless it's a special occasion. Now the morning "getting around" lasts an hour instead of 10 minutes, but I DON"T smoke!!!
