Bear, I have to agree with Cherie here Buddy. And I think that you are vastly underrating this great achievement of yours. Or maybe it's a sign that you have reached a new phase of your quit - that you no longer feel that quitting smoking is such a big deal. I said some time ago that I likened the 'post Beach' period to a plateau, where the initial elation of the quit dies off, and family and friends might forget that you still need a pat on the back. I've certainly experienced what I think that you are feeling, but in my case, this phase of the quit has passed. I feel a renewed pride in my stats but the big difference is that I think about smoking less and less and with no fondness whatsoever. This is where I believe that you are heading too. :) I also feel that my Train driving skills have vastly improved over the past few months, as I'm sure yours will too! :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 546 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 16,380 Amount Saved: 4,095.00 Life Gained: Days: 87 Hrs: 17 Mins: 52 Seconds: 2

"Maybe it's because I've overcome alot more adverse things that quitting nicotine." Hiya Bear :) There's a difference between overcoming other things and quitting smoking. Quitting smoking is a day by day accomplishment b/c we can start again at any sec. B/c smoking/nicotine is an addiction, it can not be overcome. There is no guarantee that because we are quit right this moment that we won't be smoking after our dinner tonight, b/c we are addicts. Addiction is a life-long disease, ugh. But the good thing for us is that we know we are addicts, which is the 1st step in begining to make our lives better. You should be EXTREMEMLY proud of yourself :) I know you may not have been looking for an applause in this thread but you've earned one & a standing ovation as well. Addiction is not something that we can just get rid of or over come. It's a daily choice or minute to minute choice of choosing a different way to live rather than by using drugs. So hip hip hooray 4u and all the rest of us who have not smoked yet today and hopefully GOD willing won't. Just breathe.........ahhhhhhhhh My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/9/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 680 Amount Saved: $163.20 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 9 Mins: 4 Seconds: 23

I hope I did'nt mislead anybody here.I was'nt looking for sympathy or an additional pat on the back the hug I will accept though because I like them and kisses too. :) Riggsy you've already taken the 1'rst step by coming to this site now lets take the next step and one step at a time you WILL become a non nicotine user. Oh Mercy I'm sure there are people here that would say I'm overdone ;)the truth is I have one more step to go It's of a spiritual nature :) Lampy I like yourself marvel at the fact I'm still walking the face of this earth. When I reflect on it scares the h--- out of me.Don't be fighting that old age now it's a great place to be ;p To everybody that responded to this post a special "thank you "I got a lot of answers I did'nt expect :8|: My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 145 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,610 Amount Saved: $1,450.00 Life Gained: Days: 33 Hrs: 3 Mins: 25 Seconds: 9

Bear I am sadden to think you feel disappointed in your journey. For us who still smoke and want to stop you are an inspiration. All of you are that have been able to kick the habit. Can you breath better? Do your surroundings smell better? Does food taste better? I am where you were before you quit...still stinky, heavy breathing with low taste buds. What you have accomplished is what millions (hand raising) can't do. You should be very proud of yourself because know it or not we newbies look up to you and others. Take time to reflect and give yourself that pat on the back you deserve and personaly I would like to thank you for being a role model. Even in something so little as beating the addiction.

Bear, Maybe you don't need that feeling of accomplishment because you have succesfully made it to the other side. Your life is...what it is....in it's own kind of comfort level. Your comfortable in YOUR OWN SKIN. That is a wonderful thing. That is what many of us search for. You have that "done" feeling...expressing itself by not needing anything else to replace or subsititute a past addiction with. That is a good place to be. Some of us wander on our new roads a bit still. Be glad your job is done. That is what is great about you. No fisods. Just existing in the form your in. I say congradulations. Bear I have got to tell you, I have overcome many things in my life, but the reality of dealing with life sans cigarettes is unbelievable for me...Heck I was married to the things...And the divorce was one rocky road, I'll tell you... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 229 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,870 Amount Saved: $1,603.00 Life Gained: Days: 41 Hrs: 21 Mins: 39 Seconds: 53

I've overcome other things too, but I still take huge satisfaction in being smoke-free these last 5 months. I figure this is the last thing that's threatening to take my life besides old age... and I'll be fighting that one too! :) Most of the people who know me tell me that they don't know why I'm still here, and I have to go along with that. But since I am still here, I'm going to try to learn from the mistakes and make my life what I can be. And one of the things it can be is..."free". I'm so sick of being a slave to drugs...any drugs... I want to spend the rest of my life being who I really am, and a slave to nothing. Bear, I think you need a hug (((HUG))). Now we all go though quite moments. Don't judge people by their outsides. We never really know what is going on with another person. Some put on a happy, happy face because they think that is what people want. Others put on sad, sad, faces because that is what works for them. We have travel the road of life and we know what works for us. Maybe we don't jump up and down like we use to, but we sure do know about a lifes road well traveled, don't we? You are doing great.
