Real or Imagined

Gr8 post :) We do make life hard for ourselves. It's hard to remember everyday to let go and let GOD. Even though in my morning prayer I ask GOD to guide and direct my thinking, my actions & the words that I speak & to give me the knowledge of your will & the power to carry it out, I still take it back during the day and my self-will takes over & that's when the negativity & trouble starts! Self-will/Will-power, will get you no where. It's understanding that GOD's will is the only will that matters :) Little ole me and my self-will will take me back to smoking & drinking in a heartbeat. I have to continually remind myself that I'm not in control. Everytime I "choose" to "try" to take control of anything obsticals start popping up every which way. I know that I cannot control other people, places or things but when fear sets in I do everything in "my power" to control the situation which always causes chaos & more problems. So if I could remember that GOD is in control and it's his power that matters and I STOP TRYING TO PLAY GOD, the obsticals go away & I'm able to feel the peace & serenity that I yearn for so much. It's tough to turn my power over & trust in GOD every minute of everyday. If only I could, my life would be soooooo much better. So yes, Bear I agree with you whole heartedly & dreams reveal much if we take time to look at them. One cool way to look at your dreams is to realize that we are the directors of our own dreams. Nobody sticks a dvd in our head when we're asleep, lol. Therefore since we are directing the dream, we put everyone in our dream and make them do whatever we choose. Therefore we are everybody in the dream. Interesting, huh. You can learn a lot about yourself when u look at you as being everyone in the dream. We have many different sides to ourselves. :) Just breathe....... Bear, my take on it is this. It may be tosh .. :) All obstacles are imagined and it takes logic to break it down. Some obstacles are created daily. Your mind is searching for new excuses to smoke. Smoking and obstacles : Smokeaphobics might think of suffocation when the see a lit cigarette. Why would they want to put that thing in their mouth let alone suck on it? - An imagined obstacle to smoking Quitting and obstacles : 'You will lose all control over your emotions if you continue with your quit. This will be bad for you life. Go back to that emotion-free shell.' - An imagined obstacle to quitting Not all obstacles are bad... The whole thing is trial and error. As a baby, you know no limits, you'd crawl across a motorway with no fear for your life. As you grow older you learn that crawling across a motorway is not a good idea and so you build a connection 'crawling across a motorway = risk of death'. You've just built an obstacle. Its not bad though. And you will find millions of those in your mind if you search hard. I had a dream last night that I was playing golf but the golf course was sureal.Every time I went to hit my ball there was something in my way that just did'nt belong on a golf course.Needless to say it was very frustrating. When I awoke this morning it got me thinking. I wonder how many " imagined obstacles" we place in our way as we start or continue our journey to quit using nicotine :quest: My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 135 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,430 Amount Saved: $1,350.00 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 20 Mins: 23 Seconds: 31
